that both of them be put in the post. “They work great
together and the whole operation is a lot more efficient
now,” Bill explained. “Residents have a lot less waiting
time for repairs,” he said, and the board agreed that
putting both men in the job was well worth the investment.
Arnold had been the regular porter in the 01 Building,
so this shift in personnel left a hole for that position. Who
better than Sergio Cruz to fill it? Sergio had been a floater
(a porter who fills in across the buildings when other porters
ON A MORE PERSONAL NOTE…
Resident Manager Bill Newell is happy to formally announce
that Andres Vargas and Arnold Guzman are now
officially Handymen here at Cryder Point. They both had
been working in that capacity since our previous Handyman,
Louie Memishi, went on a leave of absence at the
end of last year. However, Bill couldn’t make an official
change until Louie’s resignation was final at the end of
February.
The original plan had been for either Andres or
Arnold to take Louie’s place, but the “Dynamic Duo”
worked out so well that Bill recommended to the board

are off) for quite a while. “Sergio’s done a great job
and I’m glad to be able to give him a regular post. It was
a no-brainer,” Bill said.
But now we needed a permanent floater. Genaro
“Junior” Abad Feliz began here last year as a temporary
worker and is now a permanent floater taking
care of all three buildings to cover for the other porters
when they’re out. “Junior’s been doing great,” Bill
said, “and I’m happy he’s now part of our permanent
staff.”
Congratulations to all and we wish you continued success!
First up, our daytime 01 concierge
Craig Coons and his wife,
Shana, welcomed a beautiful
baby boy, Lucas, into their lives
last August.
Craig said it’s really exciting
being a new parent. “The most
exciting thing,” Craig said, “is
watching him grow and experience
new things. He’s getting
big so fast; we watch him change
every day.” Of course new parenthood
has its revelations as
well. “The most surprising thing
is learning you can function
without sleep!”
Craig and Shana have some
advice for expecting parents.
First, Craig said, is to “appreciate
the free time you have while you
can.” Then, he said, “Be prepared
for a crazy ride!”
But the “crazy ride” is well
worth it. Craig and Shana said,
“Luke has been a blessing. We
couldn’t imagine life without
him.”
But that’s not the only good
news coming from our staff.
Romance must really be in the
air in the 01 Building because
evening concierge Tony Budney,
Jr. recently announced
his engagement. Tony and his
fiancée, Diana, met when she
worked as a nanny here at Cryder
Point.
Things are pretty hush-hush
as to the wedding plans. Tony
stated firmly, “We’re going to
have a surprise wedding,” (and
he was not forthcoming with
any details!).
Tony said that their favorite
ways of enjoying time together
are going to church and spending
time with family. “Diana
truly is the love of my life,” he
said, “and I’m the love of her
life. We are blessed.”
Everyone at Cryder Point
wishes the happy couples all
the best for many years to
