J. Welcome to a new feature of the Cryder Point Courier in which we will periodically put the spotlight on one of our great staff members. It’s not only one small way to acknowledge them, but also to help our residents get to know the people who work here at Cryder Point a little bit better. First up is Anthony Budney, Jr., aka “Tony Jr.” For those who may not know, he’s called Tony Jr. because his Dad, Tony Budney, Sr., is also one of our concierges. In fact, both Tony’s are concierges in the 01 Building- -now that’s really keeping things in the family! Tony Jr. is the evening concierge, Tuesdays through Saturdays. Aside from working with his father, one of the things he enjoys about his job is “making residents happy,” something all of us really appreciate. He added that things can be a little challenging when fi rst starting out in the concierge role “when you fi rst learn how to work the phones and how to run the desk.” But he’s a pro now after being here at Cryder for four years. When not manning his station, Tony Jr. enjoys spending time with friends and family, “and most of all with my son.” Tony Jr.’s son A.J. is turning 3 this month (so he’ll be ready for a concierge post in no time!). Fun fact: Did you know that Tony Jr. used to be a professional wrestler? “I went to school for wrestling,” he said, and the accompanying photo showing him in action is here to prove it. But Tony Jr. is also into lots of other sports—big time. The list of sports that he likes includes football, basketball, baseball, boxing, track, hockey, and the list goes on. ”Pretty much all sports,” he said, and continued, “My parents from a young age had my sister in dance and me into sports.” 10 CRYDER POINT COURIER | MARCH 2016 | WWW.QNS.COM But when he’s not watching sports, you’re liable to fi nd him in the kitchen. “My mom is from Italian descent and my father is Irish, Polish and German. They taught my sister and I how to cook.” Or maybe you’ll catch him listening to music. “I love country and EDM and also at times listen to rock and some rap,” he said. Or you might fi nd him playing with his animals. “I have a dog, two cats and a turtle. I’ve had the turtle since I was six!” He made sure that we learned his pets’ names: Tony Jr.’s dog is Molly, his cats are Sundae and Vito, and his turtle is Lucky. Tony Jr.’s turtle isn’t the only one who’s lucky—so are we to have him on the Cryder Point team. Thanks, Tony Jr.! Son A. J. is directing things!
