The general Shareholders’ meeting held on January 28 had a good turnout with approximately 80 people in attendance. A recap of the meeting was made available and is also reprinted in this issue for your convenience. One of the primary items on the agenda that evening was a progress report on the seawall project. I’m pleased to be able to share some of the newest photos here that were also presented at the meeting. This has been a complex project but well worth the time and attention to detail, as proven by how well the wall protected Cryder Point during the blizzard last month. Speaking of the blizzard, I have heard some really great feedback from our residents on how our staff dealt with the storm and getting us shoveled out so quickly and thoroughly. It was especially interesting since I received emails from a few other co-op boards that their residents were really unhappy with how their crews handled the situation; unlike here, it seems that in some cases it took other complexes days to dig out. I wondered, “How come our people were able to pull off what was apparently impossible at other communities?” So I sat down for a few minutes with Bill Newell to get the 411 on what’s involved when we’re hit with a mega-snowstorm, and I learned that it’s a lot more complicated than you’d think. Read inside, and the next time it snows and you see one of the guys bundled up on the Bobcat, say thanks!
