Cryder Point kids dressed in their pajamas and full of
holiday cheer headed down to our Community Room on
December 15…after all, they heard Santa was near! The
room was decorated for Hanukkah and Christmas making
the festivities complete, and kids and grandkids were
treated to crafts, sundaes, and games. There were also
snow persons with hats, scarves and buttons to be made
and ginger persons with bowties, optional scarf, and their
very own buttons.
Thanks to CeCe Schob for coordinating the crafts, and
no craft table is complete without volunteers like Mona
Blumenriech, Dorene Finnegan, Santa’s Elves (Irene Magnozzi
and Vinnie Cinque), parents and grandparents. The
candy canes were made by CeCe and her daughter Kate
Schob. One of our newest shareholders Joan Reinle joined
in as well setting up chairs and helping with clean-up. And
a very special thank you to Sheila Vaughan for making the
Elves’ costumes. They were very “elfish” and beautiful, and
we appreciate the time, effort and donation to the party.
Sundaes were served up with lots of toppings, whipped
cream and cherries. The most popular topping? Why the
cherry on top, of course! Afterwards, there was a rousing
musical chairs competition and a quick pass the hot potato
while waiting for Santa to arrive.
Ho ho ho and in he swept! The trick is to get all the kids
on the floor in a circle for Santa’s arrival—not an easy task!
The first sound of Santa’s bells brought the circle to order
very quickly. Santa visited with every kid (some from afar
only!), and with the help of our elves (Irene and Vinnie),
everyone received a reindeer candy cane. Our in-house
photographer, Dorene Finnegan, snapped a picture of
all the children who visited with Santa. The excitement,
smiles and squeals of happiness…priceless.
Kids stop reading here: Finally, a special thank you to
Santa, aka Joe Lombardo, for bringing holiday to cheer
into the Community Room.
All in all, it was a great evening that we look forward to
again (only 11 months to go!).
