JANUARY Welcome New Residents!
As each New Year rings in, we like to take a moment
to welcome our new neighbors to Cryder
Point. In 2017, 17 sales closed, which is about
average for the community.
Many new shareholders discovered Cryder Point
by accident, some are returning to their roots,
and others found us through a web search or from
friends.
No, Lisa Montelle isn’t incognito…this is a photo of her
from a recent trip to Iceland!
Steve and Laurel Frankel warm up for their regular run.
A bunch of Wise guys! The Wise clan poses with Tom
(standing, second from right), and Pat, holding their beloved
dog, Oreo Cookie.

Here’s a chance for you to meet a few of your new
neighbors (comments have been edited due to space). We
thank them and welcome all of our new residents to our
wonderful Cryder Point community.
Angela Cucinotto
Although Angela was a fashion
design major at FIT, she has
worked in finance for close to
30 years. She moved to Cryder
Point this past summer, but she
is no stranger to Beechhurst,
having had previously lived in
Le Havre from 1994 until 2003
when she moved to upstate New
York.
Living upstate, Angela said,
“was a wonderful and cherished
time but due to unexpected
circumstances, after five years
I had to come back downstate
and wound up in Long Island
City, then Astoria…over the last
eight years I carefully decided
where I would call home…Cryder
Point feels like its own sweet
little neighborhood within a
beautiful neighborhood.” She
continued, “There are friendly
neighbors and wonderful staff,
and after years of planning
to return to Beechhurst I knew
Cryder Point would be my
home. Dog friendly too!”
Tom and Pat Wise
Tom and Pat moved to Cryder
Point this past spring. Pat explains
the journey of how they got here.
“It was in August of 2016 that I had
a thought of ‘downsizing’ our living
arrangements, but this would take
some convincing on my part, as my
husband was more than contented
in Maspeth, where we had been living
since 1993.”
Tom is a Navy veteran and a
boater, however, and Pat knew he’d
like to live by the water. Pat explains,
“I googled ‘Queens Co-ops
by the water,’ knowing that neither
of us wanted to leave the borough
since we were both working in
Queens. My search brought us to
Le Havre and eventually to Cryder
Point, which we were sold on immediately.”
The Wise’s got super-lucky with
how everything worked out. “As
bittersweet as it was to leave the
home that we had raised our family
in, we were delighted when our
son, Robert, and his wife, Danielle,
bought it!”
Pat says, “Cryder Point has
so many ‘best things’ about living
here: from the pool in which
our grandson, Tommy, learned to
swim and all five of our grandchildren
have been in, to the Quality
of Life parties, to the friendly and
helpful staff, to the very welcoming
neighbors.”
Pat says, “We hope to live many
years here enjoying our view from
the terrace, which is second to none
in our eyes. God has truly blessed
us.”
Steve and Laurel Frankel
Steve and Laurel have lived
at Cryder for about a year
now. Steve explained how they
wound up here. “Laurel’s friend
Regina lives in the 41 building,
and after Laurel’s first visit, she
knew she had to live here.” He
added, “After living in private
homes for 30 years, we were
ready for apartment living.”
Laurel’s an elementary school
science teacher and Steve’s a retired
high school math teacher,
and they raised their two our
adult sons in Whitestone.
Steve says, “We love Cryder
Point with its views, beautiful
grounds, concierge and maintenance
service, pool, Manhattan
bus service, proximity to running
paths, and friendly neighbors.”
Speaking of running
paths, both Steve and Laurel are
avid runners. “Being runners
for over 40 years,” Steve said,
“we’d like to start a Cryder Point
running club.”
Lisa Montelle
Lisa’s a good example of a
“new-old” neighbor. She is
originally from Flushing and
moved to Cryder at the end of
April but, she explains, “I actually
lived around the corner in a
two family house for 22 years.”
Lisa says the best things about
living here are the view and
her new friends (no one would
argue with her on either point!).
Lisa’s busy with her job at CBS
Television, where she’s worked
for the past 25 years. Her dog,
Gilligan, also keeps her out and
about. “Most of my friends in
the neighborhood recognize me
because I am always out walking
my current dog, Gilligan,
and my past dog, Sam!!”
Angela Cucinotto has returned to her
Beechhurst roots!
