C R Y D E R P O I N T JANUARY 6 Residents LOVE Cryder’s SENSE OF COMMUNITY The New Year isn’t all that’s new at Cryder Point. As all of its residents know, Cryder Point is an ideal and unique place to live. From warm, friendly residents to a breathtaking view of the Throgs Neck Bridge, there are certainly many reasons why someone would choose to live here, and for that reason it is no surprise that Cryder Point sees more and more new residents every year. One of those new residents is Joseph Strippoli. Together with his girlfriend, Lisa Cuiman, and their dog Benny, Strippoli moved to Cryder Point in October after deciding that he wanted to stay in his hometown of Beechhurst. Another crucial factor for Strippoli was that his next living arrangement be pet-friendly, and Cryder Point has fit all of his qualifications nicely. “I love it here,” Strippoli said. “It’s nice and quiet, we love our neighbors, and in general it’s just a great community and a great, peaceful place. The pool is absolutely my favorite part.” Strippoli, who has been working as a police officer in the 107th precinct for seven years, also wanted to remain in the Beechhurst area in order to be closer to work, and says that he plans on remaining in Cryder Point for a while. Denis and Kathy Lemek are also relatively new to Cryder Point. The Lemeks began looking for a new place to live prior to Superstorm Sandy, and settled on Cryder Point in December of 2012. For them, not only did they want a living arrangement which granted them easy access to the city and allowed them to visit Lake George in Warren County, but also a pet-friendly place that would accommodate their dog, Pookie. “I’ll tell you what I love about this place,” said Kathy enthusiastically. 6 cryder point courier | january 2014 | WWW.QUEENSCOURIER.COM “First of all, I loved the idea of having a doorman, having a pool, and having the views that I have. I love all of my neighbors, how friendly and welcoming they all are, and how supportive they all are of each other. I love that Pookie has a terrace to go outside on, and I love getting together with my friends by the pool, or going for a walk or having dinner with them. It’s just wonderful.” “We were also very lucky to have Marcia Coughlin as our realtor,” she added. “She’s the best realtor I’ve ever worked with, and she did a great job in making sure we were happy and following up with us. I was also lucky to have met Marion Rosenberg, who took me under her wing. She was so good to me and it was a blessing meeting her.” During the more than two-month process of renovating their kitchen, the Lemeks’ dinners were taken care of by their upstairs neighbors, Michael and Vince. Also, although Kathy is usually uncomfortable leaving her dog with others, during the renovation she left Pookie with her neighbors John and Tom. “Pookie was so happy with them because John and Tom took such good care of her,” she said. “It’s almost like she didn’t want to leave. That’s what I mean when I say we have the best neighbors.” Denise Demby is another new addition to Cryder Point. After purchasing her apartment on July 15 and completing some renovations, she moved into her apartment on November 1 of last year. “The best thing about living here is the sense of community,” she said. “I was feeling a little isolated in my old house, and everyone here is very warm and friendly. I have a very good friend on the third floor who I play mahjong with, and I live with my dog, Geordi.” Denise Demby Kathy Lemek Joseph Strippoli and Lisa Cuiman
