Two beloved daughters of Queens
took their rightful place in the pantheon
of iconic borough residents
on Oct. 1, as Queens Borough President,
Donovan Richards, Jr. presented
the Key to Queens to Olympic gold
medalists Dalilah Muhammad and
Tina Charles at a joyous ceremony at
Queens Borough Hall.
“Dalilah Muhammad and Tina
Charles are more than just legendary
athletes and Olympic champions,”
Richards said. “They are role models
and inspirations to the countless
young people of our borough — kids
who now know that with hard work
and dedication, there is no limit to
what a child of Queens can achieve.
“Dalilah and Tina represent the
very best of ‘The World’s Borough’
and these inspiring women are more
than deserving recipients of the Key

Anti-doping
probe

Jamaica Olympic and world championship
medalist, Nesta Carter, has tested
positive again and faces an anti-doping
hearing this week.
His positive doping test caused Usain
Bolt to be stripped of his Beijing 2008
Olympic 4×100 meters relay gold medal.
Confirmation of the now-retired Carter’s
test came from the chairman of the
Jamaica Anti-Doping Disciplinary Panel
and the sprinter’s lawyer, Stuart Simpson.

Holding gets
cricket award

Sky Sports commentator, Michael
Holding has won the prestigious Peter
Smith Award for presentation of cricket
to the public, at the recent Cricket Writers’
Club annual awards in London.
A West Indies legend, who is considered
among the greatest fast bowlers of
all time, Holding has been a regular of
the Sky Sports commentary team for
more than 30 years.
In the wake of George Floyd’s death
last year in the USA, Holding spoke
powerfully about the need to combat
racism and his book “Why We Kneel
How We Rise” has been long-listed for
the William Sports Book of the Year
2021.
