Sen. Kevin Parker to run for NYC comptroller,
vows to fight for economic opportunities

New York State Senator
Kevin Parker, who represents
the 21st Senate District in
Brooklyn, home to Caribbean
nationals, has said he will fight
for economic opportunities for
all New Yorkers, as he throws
his hat in the crowded ring to
replace New York City Comptroller,
Scott Stringer.
In a recent announcement
for candidacy, the popular politician
who has served his district
for two decades, and many
as Senate Majority Whip, and
worked as UBS PaineWebber
municipal finance manager and
special assistant to former State
Comptroller H. Cal McCall and
as project manager with the
New York State Urban Development
Corporation, said he will
draw upon his education and
practical experience to serve
as the certified watch dDog for
New Yorkers.
Senator Parker, whose Harvest
Festival backpack giveaways,
and High School students
Prom Dress donations,
and many outreach programs,
have helped thousands of community
children and youth,
is ready to utilize the powers
of the Comptroller’s office to
ensure “our city has an inclusive
recovery.”
The Statesman, who holds
the fifth-ranking position in
Senate Democratic leadership,
in the State Senate, said he has
been a fierce champion of economic
development, education,
clean energy, domestic violence
issues, and civil rights.

in New York, having
passed more than 60 bills,
including some related related to
state contracting, siting of bank
branches, stock transfers, the
State Comptroller’s accounts,
public employee wage disparities,
transferring of mortgages,
and M/WBEs, is ready to take
on the challenge of comptroller
in the 2021 race.
“I am running for New York
City comptroller because, as
we emerge from this pandemic
and economic depression,
I want to utilize the powers
of the comptroller’s office to
ensure our city has an inclusive
recover, adding, as we enter a
new era of national healing,
there must be economic opportunities
for all New Yorkers, so
that we emerge stronger than
ever before,” said the politician,
who has an extensive education
in government.
He holds a Bachelor of Science
Degree in Public Service
from Penn State University,
with a minor in Business, and
a Master of Science Degree in
Urban Policy and Management
from the New School.
Sen. Parker, who has partnered
with numerous community
leaders and organizations
to celebrate his diverse community,
is a PhD candidate in
Political Science at the CUNY
Graduate Center, and has been
a professor of African-American
Studies and Political Science at
several CUNY and SUNY institutions.
