Durosinmi
Born and raised in
Brownsville’s Glenmore
Plaza, and now a resident
of Bushwick, Durosinmi has worked on
community issues and landmark initiatives
such as Pre-K For All, NYC Men Teach, and has
pushed to eliminate plastic straws. He comes
with over 16 years of government experience,
and hopes to create jobs in the district, among

Echevarría is a de Blasio
administration whistleblower
who says he isn’t afraid
to address deep levels of
administrative housing
corruption. He was born in North Brooklyn
and raised in Bushwick’s Hope Gardens Public

Sandy Nurse
As the daughter of an
immigrant and single mother,
Nurse says her entire life has
prepared her for fighting with
and for the district’s working
class community and families. Among her top

DEMOCRATIC PRIMARY Alexa Avilés
Avilés has long-served her
community as a member of
Community Board 7, a parent
rep of the MS 88 School
Leadership Team, and chair of
the New York City Youth Board, but she says her
experience as a parent has led her to politics.
Her priorities include COVID-19 recovery, relief
for overcrowded and underfunded schools, and

Camarena is a lifelong
immigrant advocate, new
parent, and community
organizer. He is currently the
director of the Immigration
Advocates Network, and is a former head of the
Mixteca Organization. He hopes to address the
district’s chronic housing insecurity, build a
fairer economy, and invest in educators, among

Jacqui Painter
Painter comes with plenty
of political experience.
Among others, she is involved
with groups like New Kings
Democrats, Rep Your Block,
Rep Your Block, Black Lives Matter Greater New
York, and DSA EcoSocialists, and is a Kings
County Committee member. Among her top
priorities is climate change, and fighting for a

Swinton is a proud resident
of Sunset Park, where he’s
lived for more than 50 years,
and has worked for the
NYPD for the last 37 years.
He is a member of Community Board 7 and
the treasurer for the Lieutenants Benevolent
Association Union. He plans to focus on public
safety, affordable housing, and education.
César Zúñiga
Zúñiga is a lifelong educator,
advocate and the son of
immigrants from Mexico.
He is the current chair of
Community Board 7 and
an elected Kings County Democratic County
Committee member. He plans to prioritize
affordable housing, education, healthcare and
economic opportunity — for all of those in the

Yu Lin
A resident of District 38
for the past 20 years, Lin’s
experience spans growing
up in the neighborhood and
in its school system, to now
being an entrepreneur. His priorities include
implementing street security cameras,
increasing police presence in the community,
keeping the SHSAT and expanding the G&T

Hanif’s desire to run for
office, she said, stems from
surviving Lupus while going
through a nebulous healthcare
system. She helped form The
Kensington Stewards, and provided direct services for
constituents as Lander’s former director of organizing
and community engagement. Her priorities include
affordable housing and desegregating schools, among

Mamnun Haq
Haq believes everyday New
Yorkers should be represented
by everyday New Yorkers. As
a cab driver, labor organizer,
public health advocate,
immigrant, and working class New Yorker, Haq
hopes to address housing and gentrification

Krebs is the National
Campaigns Director at MoveOn,
a progressive public policy
advocacy group and political
action committee. When
asked about his top priorities, Krebs said simply:
“schools, schools, schools.” If elected, Krebs
hopes to desegregate city schools and reimagine
the city’s budget to include proper funding for
schools, among other city agencies and programs,

currently works as assistant
to the staff director for the
United Federation of Teachers, where she has also
served as government liaison to the Council. She

and working-class families, and the COVID-19

Schneider is a civil rights
and criminal defense attorney
and a Democratic District
Leader who has worked to bring
transparency, inclusivity, and
accountability to the Brooklyn Democratic Party.
