Plans are in place for the 18th
staging of Poetry in Motion (PiM),
the longest running and most successful
annual event of its kind in the
Caribbean, according to event organizer
Yasus Afari of SenYAcum.
He said the event, which provides
“clean, intelligent fun for the entire
family, is an annual “edutainment
festival, which features music, dance,
comedy, storytelling, fashion and
poetry.”
Afari told Caribbean Life that PiM,
slated for Sunday, Feb. 27, will feature
performances by reggae legend
Errol Dunkley, Dr. Olive Senior,
Lorna Goodison, Prof. Clinton
Hutton, Owen “Blakka” Ellis, Trudy
Knockless, Karae Brown, Sammoya
Banton, Stacy-Ann Taylor, Elsa Joel
(India), Primrose Lewis, Khulcha
Dance Theatre, Fabian Summerville,
Stephen Wise (musician-singer),
Mikaya and Yasus Afari, and the PiM
2021-Golden Tongue Awardees.
Afari said that even without the
usual physical audience due to the
Government of Jamaica’s COVID 19
protocols, plans are afoot for the
event to be held on the virtual platform,
with live streaming performances
on several digital platforms,
including YouTube, Facebook and
Instagram., from Manchester Golf

St. Vincent and the Grenadines Prime
Minister, Dr. Ralph E. Gonsalves has
announced that the national carnival,
known as Vincy Mas, will be held this
year.
Speaking on Sunday on the “Issues
at Hand” program on local radio, WE
FM 99.9, Gonsalves said that, following a
lengthy Cabinet meeting last Wednesday,
it was decided that carnival will be held
this year, according to Loopnews.com.
Vincy Mas was not held in 2020 and
2021 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Every society needs occasions where
you have releases; it’s a catharsis,” Loopnews
quoted Gonsalves as saying. “You
(are) doing work all the time, and you have
to have something where you let off your
energy.”
