BENEDETTO SPEAKS AT BRONX REACH MEETING
Assemblyman Michael Benedetto spoke at last month’s Bronx Health REACH’s Coalition
meeting. Benedetto, who is chairman of the Assembly Education Committee, discussed his
continuing support of school wellness programming as well as sponsoring NYS assembly
bill A7607, which directs the commissioner of education to establish a state model wellness
policy for local educational agencies as well as a school district wellness policy database.

BIAGGI ATTENDS KINGSBRIDGE BID’S ANNUAL MEETING
The Kingsbridge Business Improvement District recently welcomed Senator Alessandra
Biaggi to speak at their annual membership meeting to celebrate the neighborhood’s small
businesses and discuss how the BID can provide better support.

ENGINEERING CONFERENCE HELD AT PRESTON
Preston High School hosted an engineering conference on Friday, September 20. The conference
provided students with exposure to real world engineering disciplines and the
global challenges engineering solutions address. Session workshops included ‘Networks
and Drones’ and ’Bridges.’ The students who participated in the workshop were from Mount
St. Michael Academy, Academy of Mount St. Ursula, Monsignor Scanlan High School, along
with Preston High School.

CURBSIDE ELECTRONICS COLLECTION
Last week, the NYC Department of Sanitation announced the expansion of curbside electronics
collection to the Bronx and eastern Queens. Covered e-waste items included televisions,
monitors, laptops, electronic keyboards, fax machines, document scanners, VCRs,
DVDs, video game consoles and most computer printers.
