BELMONT BID STREET RENAMING IN
HONOR OF TEITEL BROTHERS BUSINESS
On May 26, Congressman Ritchie Torres, Councilman Feliz and Belmont Business Improvement
District hosted a Street Renaming in Honor of Teitel Brothers, a fourth generation family
business that was founded in 1915. East 186th Street and Arthur Avenue was renamed “Teitel
Brothers Lane.” Congressman Ritchie Torres said, “Here in America, we celebrate entrepreneurship
no matter who you are and where you come from.” The Teitel brothers (Gilbert Teitel,
Eddie Teitel, Jean Teitel, Michael Teitel) and Billy Fassbender) were praised by attendees for
their loyalty to their family and the community. They are a staple in the community and were
thanked by Councilman Feliz for “choosing Author Avenue and the Bronx.”
