
Albert ‘Al’ Quinones Street Namimg
On Friday, May 28, many came together for the street renaming ceremony in honor of Albert Quinones.
This pioneer was known for his dedication to latin music, culture and his fi ght to rebuild Playground
52 in the Bronx. He was known as a fi ghter and many in attendance shared their stories. Attendees included
Borough President Ruben Diaz, Jr., Councilman Ruben Diaz, Sr., former Bronx Borough President Fernando
Ferrer, James Melendez, Jose Clausell (musician and close friend of Al Quinones), Councilman Rafael
Salamanca, Jr.and so many others. As this event came to a close, Councilman Rafael Salamanca encouraged
community members to continue his legacy. This man is the true meaning of “Bronx strong.”
