The Building Trades Employers Association, in partnership
with Rebuild Renew New York, is proud to announce a new
study that further proves our industry will serve as a catalyst
in revitalizing New York’s economy.
The unionized construction industry is a gateway to the middle class,
creating thousands of good paying jobs by building with a diverse workforce:
Each $1 million spent on construction creates a total of eight jobs in NYC
BTEA has 177 MWBE contractors, more than any contractor association in NYS
The NYC building trade union workforce employed by
BTEA contractors are 55% minority and women
Black union construction workers earn 36.1% higher wages than black
non-union construction workers
Latino union construction workers earn 52.7% higher wages than Latino
non-union construction workers
