Greetings Sam Young
members, and to all veterans.
The weather has been a bit
chilly, I must say. Hope you
are all staying warm. And if
your using an electric heater,
please be careful.
Seems like the omicron
variant is slowing down as
the numbers are reducing
but still take precaution.
Our Feb. 12 Romantic Valentine
event is almost sold out.
If you haven’t made reservations,
please do so ASAP. If
you’re going to leave a message
on our Post phone 718-
822-8873, it takes six rings before
it answers. So wait until
you hear the beep. Not much
going on at the Post as January
is always a slow month.
Looking for a location
to watch the Super Bowl on
Sunday, Feb. 13, look no further.
The Sam Young Post is
the place to be. A large 10-
foot screen will be set up in
the Gold Room with stadium
sound, HD reception and a
complimentary halftime buffet
and drink specials. Let
Jeanette know your coming.
We hope you will join the
Bronx County American Legion
on Sunday, Feb. 6, in the
Remembrance of the Four
Chaplins Mass to be held at
St. Benedict’s Church.
Well that’s all for now, if
you haven’t paid your 2022
membership, please send it in
as it is overdue. Remember,
the Preamble of the American
Legion says, “For God
and Country, we associate
ourselves together for the following
purposes: To uphold
and defend the Constitution
of the United States of America;
to maintain law and order;
to foster and perpetuate
a 100-percent Americanism;
to preserve the memories and
incidents of our associations
in all wars; to inculcate a
sense of individual obligation
to the community, state and
nation; to combat the autocracy
of both the classes and
the masses; to make right the
master of might; to promote
peace and good will on earth;
to safeguard and transmit
to posterity the principles of
justice, freedom and democracy;
to consecrate and sanctify
our comradeship by our
devotion to mutual helpfulness.

intense as. the Crusaders were
leading the entire race, until
the fi nal leg when the baton was
hit by another athlete, causing
us to drop it. We fi nished earning
fourth place medals. Dontae
