Track Team close out 2019 earning
Gold medals! On Friday, December
27th Sophomore Student Athlete Hannah
Gadpaille competed in the Colgate
Women’s Games at Pratt Institute in
Brooklyn, NY. She competed in the 55-
and 200-meters races. She took 6th place
in the 55 meters race and took 8th in the
200 meters race among seniors, juniors,
sophomores and freshman student athletes.
The top 6th athletes after the preliminary
meets and a semi-fi nal will determine
the fi nalists who will compete
for trophies and educational grants-inaid
from Colgate-Palmolive Company.
On Saturday, December 22nd, she competed
in the 66th Annual Bishop Loughlin
Games, which is the biggest and most
well-known indoor high school track &
fi eld meet in the country at the Ocean
Breeze Athletic Complex, in Staten Island,
New York. She competed in the
Sophomore 55- and 300-meters races. She
won Gold medal in the 55 meters race out

of 81 athletes and took 10th place in the
300 meters race out of 92 athletes.
Also, on Saturday, December 22nd
Monsignor Scanlan Boys Track Team
competed in the Ignatian Invitational
at Fordham University’s Lombardi Center.
High school teams from throughout
New York were in attendance. Medals
were given to the top six athletes in their
event. Senior student athlete Jordon
Providence is going to be a force to deal
with in 2020. His hard work is paying off!
He won Gold medals the varsity 300- and
600-meters races. Joseph Webster had a
strong performance with a 7th place fi nish
in the 600 meters race. Tyrese Williams,
Andreas Vlahos, Kenneth Corcino,
Mario Auqui, Nana Achampong
and Aris Vlahos all performed well! Go
Crusaders!
Our next meet will be on Friday,
January 3rd, the Bronx CHSAA (Catholic
High School Athletic Association)
Championship and Saturday, January
11th the Stanner Games. Come out and
see your future Olympians!

Happy New Years! VTC (Velocity
Track Club) wishes everyone a Healthy
and Prosperous New Year! We closed
out 2019 with an awesome performance!
VTC can have the most athletes qualify
for the Colgate Women’s Games Finals
since I been coaching, and I have
been coaching for many years. On Friday,
December 27th to Sunday, December
29th we competed in Week 3 of the
Colgate Women’s Games. We had 12
athletes earn points. Out of the 12 athletes,
10 fi nished in the top 6. The athletes
with the most points after the four
preliminary meets and semifi nals will
advance to the fi nals. Currently after
three weeks, we have eight athletes in
the top six position, with four more expecting
to advance. The following athletes
earned points at Week 3: Cameron
Joseph, Hannah Defl orimonte, Shyenne
Blake, Savannah Minter, Brianna Burrell,
Olyvia Burrell, Kaylin Strachin,
Dakota Hickman, Hannah Gadpaille,
Ryann Joseph, Rakae Thomas and Jada
Clarke. Congratulations to all who competed,
your all are winners!
On Friday, December 27th, we competed
in the Ocean Breeze Holiday Festival
Youth Meet at the Lovely Ocean
Breeze Recreation Facility in Staten Island
NY. Teams from throughout the
Tristate area were in an attendance.
Medals were given to the top three athletes
in their event / gender. The following
events were contested: 55-meter hurdles,
55 meter dash, 300 meter dash, 600
meter run, 1500 meter race walk, Mile
run, 4 x 200 meter relay, High Jump,
Long Jump, Shot Put and Triple Jump.
VTC were able to muscle out 12 medals.
The following athletes medal: Cameron
Joseph, Shyenne Blake, Ryann Joseph,
Dakota Hickman, Saggi Hemmings, Tiarra
Jackson, Adonijah Washington,
Ethan Lee, Adeyemi Senior and Julian
Caldwell. Congratulation to all that
competed.
Our next meet will be on Friday
- Sunday, January 3rd – 5th, the Colgate
Women’s Games Week 4 in Brooklyn,
NY and Sunday, January 5th, AAU
Mid-Season Indoor Invitational in Fort
Washington NY.
