Sunday, January 12: Winter Birding:
The Hudson River valley hosts an impressive
diversity of bird species, even
during the winter months. Explore Wave
Hill’s tranquil gardens and woodlands
with naturalist Gabriel Willow to observe
birds in their winter habitats. Birders of all
levels welcome. Ages 10 and older welcome
with an adult. Severe weather cancels.
NYC Audubon members enjoy twofor
one admission to the grounds. Meet at

Sunday, January 12: Concert: Bruce
Molsky’s Mountain Drifters: Bruce Molsky
is one of the most revered ambassadors
for America’s old-time mountain music.
For decades, he’s been a globetrotting
performer and educator, a recording artist
with an expansive discography including
seven solo albums, well more than a
dozen collaborations and two Grammynominations.
Concerts begin at 2PM and
last approximately one hour with no intermission.
Ticket prices (including admission
to the grounds): Adults: $30 at the
door/$14 at the door for children ages
8-18. Purchase your tickets in advance
and save $2 per ticket. Wave Hill Members

Stop by picturesque City Island and
enjoy the exciting programs offered at
the PSS City Island Center, which is located
at 116 City Island Avenue, Monday
through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Experience
the exercise classes from gentle
Yoga Stretch, Balance Class, Arthritis
Workshop and Tai Chi as well as the vigorous
Zumba and Cardio Fit. They also
offer acrylic painting, calligraphy, health
presentations, blood pressure monitoring,
gardening exchange, singing group
and parties. Lunch is served from noon
to 1 p.m. suggested donation is $2. The
center participants go on shopping trips
every day; i.e. Shop Rite, Dollar Tree, Target,
Kmart, as well as theatre excursions,
special trips, special luncheons and
more. It’s free to become a member, but
you must be 60 years of age or above.

services are available to seniors
Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.,
in community districts 9, 10, 11 and 12.
The program provides door-to-door service
for all medical appointments. Their
drivers are courteous and professional;
and their vehicles are clean and handicap
accessible, including wheelchair lifts.

The New York Yankees Community
Council will provide a $750.00 stipend
to fi ve deserving students nominated by
Community Board 10 to receive the Youth
Leadership Award. Applicants must have
performed 50 hours of leadership/volunteer
work as a tutor, mentor, community
unity developer, and/or as an advocate
against violence or substance abuse in
their community.
CB 10 is seeking high school seniors
who reside in the CB 10 service area and
meet the service requirements above.

The Riverdale Choral Society
invites singers of all levels to join
them for the Spring 2020 season.
Open rehearsals will be held on two
Wednesdays, January 8 and January
15, at 7:30 p.m. They welcome all
voice ranges: soprano, alto, tenor,
and bass. Music director John Lettieri
will conduct.
Singers who join the choral society
will be preparing for a concert
on Sunday, May 17, at which they
will perform Mass in A Flat Major
by Franz Schubert. The concert
will take place at Christ Church
Riverdale and will offer the audience
an opportunity to hear beautiful
music.
If you love singing and can read
music (you don’t have to be able to
sight read if you have a good musical
ear), consider joining them. Rehearsals
will be held every Wednesday
from 7:30 to 9:45 p.m. at Christ
Church Riverdale, 252nd Street and
Henry Hudson Parkway East, where
there is street parking available and
easy access to public transportation.
