CHSAA (Catholic High School Athletic
Association) XC (Cross Country)
athletes and coaches got a glance of
normalcy on Saturday, October 3rd at
the CHSAA Season opener at Van Cortland
Park. It was a good feeling to see
our athletes participate in a XC meet.
The meet was well organized with
COVID 19 protocols as everyone temperature
was check and wore mask.
Due to the new guidelines, only certain
number of athletes could participate.
Therefore, this meet was open for
St. Raymonds, LaSalle, Mount St. Michaels,

Scanlan High School had two
athletes participate and they perform
well. Mario Auqui took 3rd place in
the 2.5 miles run and Fernando Ocotitla
took 18th. Great job athletes!
Our next meet will be on Saturday,
October 10th at Van Cortland Park,
Bronx New York.
CHSAA Season Opener

The Blessings continues for Velocity
Track Club! We been practicing
and attending XC (cross country)
meets for the last 3 weeks and to my
knowledge, no athlete or parent became
ill from the virus. On Sunday,
October 4, 2020, we traveled to Staten
Island to compete in the Ocean
Breeze XC series. The meet was well
organized with COVID 19 protocols
and everyone wore face coverings.
The competition was good with
most of the top XC athletes from
throughout New York and Conn.
The following events were contested:
2K (1.2 miles) for 8 years old & under.
3K (1.8 miles) for 9/10 and 11/12 age
divisions and 4K (2.5 miles) for 13/14
age division. Medals were awarded
to the top 15 athletes in their division
/ gender. VTC had eight athletes
participate in this meet and seven
out of the eight athletes broke their
personal XC record at Ocean Breeze
and medal. The following athlete’s
medal: Bryce Hickman, Romel Barrett,
Pierce Parker, Kenise Irish
Bramble, Rakae Thomas, Justyce
Moore and Sachin Ramharak! Congratulations
to all athletes!
