Bronx World Film’s Summer
Cycle returns to local parks
It’s going to be a movie goers’
paradise this August
when the Bronx World Film
Cycle once again makes its return
to the borough.
The non-profi t, founded
in 2011 by actor Walter Krochmal,
made a name for itself
in New York City with its fi rst
cycle’s signature mix of cutting
edge works from all over
the world and in all styles that
debuted in lower Manhattan.
Hoe Ave. Oldtimer’s
Stickball Reunion
Everyone, young and old, had a ball at the 19th
annual Hoe Avenue Oldtimer’s Stickball Reunion
on Saturday, July 27. The event featured delicious
barbecued treats, stickball, wiffl e ball, awards and
a raffl e with all proceeds going toward St. John
Chrysostom School.

The marqueé for this year’s
Bronx World Film Cycle features
international works
from Asia, Australia, Europe,
Latin America with many fi lm
makers debuting in New York
City and America for the fi rst
time.
Its programs are sourced
from the famous Festival de
Cannes in France and the
growing circle of fi lmmakers
worldwide who contribute
their fi lms year after year.
Starting on Wednesday,
August 7, the Summer Cycle
returns to Lincoln Hospital’s
outdoor plaza with a special
spotlight on animation, short
documentaries, dance and
fantasy fi lms, suitable for all
audiences that watch.
Following that, the festival
will be at Loreto Playground
at Morris Park and Haight Avenues
at 8 p.m. on Friday, August
9, then Ambrosini Field at
City Island Avenue and Centre
Street at 8 p.m. on Sunday, August
11, and then Hunts Point’s
Riverside Park on Lafayette
Avenue at 8 p.m. on Friday,

August 16 before concluding
at Crotona Park’s Amphitheatre
near its Charlotte Street
side at 8 p.m. on Saturday, August
23.
