LINCOLN HOSPITAL RECEIVES FUNDING
NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln recently received $884,000 in Fiscal Year 2020 funding from speaker Corey Johnson and
Councilman Rafael Salamanca to renovate the hospital’s Emergency Department Radiology suite. The funding will specifi -
cally support the transformation of two X-ray rooms in the ED into a state-of-the-art radiology suite, which will expedite
enhanced imagery.

CLOTHING DRIVE
First Birch Family Services Pelham Bay Early Childhood
Center recently announced that it will be launching its First
Annual Clothing Drive. Working in partnership with the Archdiocese
of New York, the Pelham Bay Early Childhood Center,
which provides a special education curriculum to area
preschool students, is collecting gently used clothes for
children and adults. Members of the local community may
drop off clothing at the school site in Pelham Bay, 2885 St.
Theresa Avenue between 2-5 p.m. until Friday, February 14.
Special arrangements can also be made for weekend drop

JACOBI PERFORMS OVER 200
BARIATRIC SURGERIES IN 2019
NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi celebrated a total of over 200
bariatric surgeries in 2019. The surgeries are overseen and
undertaken by Jacobi’s Bariatric Surgery Center, which has
been in operation since 2004 and is led by Dr. Ajay Chopra
and Dr. Danielle Friedman.

246 pounds, now weighs 151 pounds.

Councilman Mark Gjonaj’s offi ce recently collaborated with the New York Legal Assistance Group to provide legal help and
support to local residents and constituents. Appointments are available for Wednesday, March 11. To schedule an appointment,

Legal Hand’s Highbridge Branch held a Civil Service 101 Information Session on Tuesday, January 28. The workshop was held
to teach the community and volunteers how to apply for NYC Government jobs and become civil servants.
