“It’s more than just a title for us. We have
an internal culture where it’s all about pushing
each other,” said Noe Canales, director
of coaching for Soccer Kids NYC. Canales
said that the program has helped them
spread the word about their inclusive mission
as a soccer program for students of all
skills levels and needs.
Giuseppe Palmeri, of Gemeli Jewelers in
Ridgewood, recalled how the fi rst year he participated
in the competition lit a fi re in him.
“Four years ago we were nominated and
lost. From that point on, we made sure that
we always win,” said Palmeri. “One of the
things you can’t get from big businesses is
that small-town feelings.”
Michael Ro, Master of Champions Tae
Kwon Do, said that it not only helped
strengthen the bond between him and his
customers, but with other businesses in the
community as well.
