 New civil court judge Caroline Piela Cohen inducted

 Following a processional set to the  
 tune of Neil Diamond’s “Sweet Caroline,” 
   Caroline  Piela  Cohen  was  inducted  
 as judge of Kings County Civil  
 Court on Tuesday night at Borough  
 Hall.  
 A bevy of state and city lawmakers  
 joined Cohen for the ceremony, where  
 Councilwoman Farah Louis and Assemblywoman  
 Rodneyse Bichotte  described  
 the south Brooklynite’s stellar  
 track record as an tenant advocate for  
 Manhattan law fi rm Crumiller PC. 
 Other speakers include Frank Seddio, 
  Kings County Democratic Party  
 boss;  Josue  Pierre,    Flatbush  Democratic  
 District  Leader  and  candidate  
 for State Senate District 21;  Lori Citron  
 Knipel, Female Democratic District  
 Leader  for  the  44th  Assembly  
 District;  Douglas  Schneider,  Male  
 Democratic  District  Leader  for  the  
 44th  Assembly  District;  Susan  Crumiller  
 of Crumiller PC; and John Wasserman, 
  Cohen’s campaign manager. 
 Cohen was elected to serve Brooklyn’s  
 6th Municipal District in November  
 as the district’s only candidate after  
 advancing from the primary in  
 June, when she snagged more than 45  
 percent of the vote against three other  
 candidates.

 Thankful for giving thanks

 Nearly  300  students  at  Kingsborough  
 Community  College  received  
 a  hot  Thanksgiving  meal  
 last Wednesday.  
 The  meal  was  provided  courtesy  
 of  the  school  President  Dr.  
 Claudia  Schrader  and  senior  
 staff  who  put  on  the  event  to  acknowledge  
 students for their hard  
 work.  
 “It was very kind of Kingsborough’s  
 administrators to serve us  
 dinner.  It was a wonderful way to  
 kick off  the holiday season,”  said  
 KCC student Cecil. 
 This  was  the  second  annual  
 Thanks for Giving dinner.
