Dear Western Queens, This is always my favorite time of the year. Few things make me as giddy as waking up to hear the Mariah Carey’s voice come flying through the air from the speakers on Steinway, where the street lights and lamp posts transport me to a whole different time and place. Nothing makes all of the neighborhood’s cultures seem more vibrant and alive than the holidays, and Western Queens is like an enormous treasure chest of the world waiting to be explored.
