Summertime at
Summer is in full swing and so is
the LIC Flea & Food. Every Saturday
and Sunday, a carefully curated
mix of artisan, vintage, global
food and drink options presents itself to
a curious audience.
And every season, the options to chose
from grow. Take Empanada Papa. Deemed
to have the best empanadas in the borough
by their loyal following, Empanada Papa has
been a staple at this season’s flea with their
freshly fried empanada del pastor or de esquites
with a special chipotle mayo sauce.
Açaí Brazil offers a super healthy and
refreshing option. The açaí berry’s antioxidant
capacity has earned the berry its
name as super food, and therefore is a staple
in Brazil. Açaí Brazil offers a variety of
combinations with other fruits for a great
summer snack.
Another new face to the LIC Flea is the Astoria
Warrior clothing line. As the name states,
this brand is all about representing Astoria.
Whether you’re looking for original designed
caps or fresh T-shirts with Star Wars lettering,
Astoria Warrior will hook you up.
Seeking artisan goods? Then you must
check out Proveartes. A family company
that sells “handcrafted Colombian handicrafts,”
Proveartes offers a host of products
from skillfully designed necklaces
to colorful bags. All items are made of
natural fibers.
As if that isn’t enough, LIC Flea also offers
a beer garden along the waterfront with local
craft beer and incredible events. Aug. 13 and
14 brings an international tap takeover with
beer and wine across the globe and an array
of global cuisine. On Sept. 16 and 17, there
is the first Queens BBQ Smokedown & Brew
Fest. A ticket will get you unlimited beer tasting
and a barbecue plate. Yum! BORO readers
can enjoy 25 percent off all LIC Flea 2017
events with the special code BORO.
