“A friend of mine suggested I follow
@stoopingnyc and then from there I looked
into the Queens one,” said Astoria resident
Mallory Deane. “I saw that it was active and
seemed like the person who runs it really
enjoys and is excited about people getting
their finds. I’ve submitted stoops and
they’re really grateful people are keeping
an eye out for them.”
The majority of the posts on the
@stoopinginqueens Instagram come
from followers and community members
who come across goods on local stoops.
Wolff reviews submissions and then posts
where the stoop is located and what time
it was seen. Ideally, someone would go to
the stoop, pick up the item and let Wolff
know it was homed. One Saturday, Wolff
recorded that 19 pieces of furniture were
rehomed from stooping — a record high

get rid of, consider posting it on your local

If you know you’re going to be curbing
your old coffee table, let Wolff know on

Queens can pick it up instead of the

Stooping Successes
In addition to posting street finds,
@stoopinginqueens also features what Wolff
termed “stooping successes” — items that a local
saw on Instagram, picked up and rehomed.
