Councilwoman Farah Louis
handily fended off seven challengers
to her City Council
seat in the Democratic primary
on June 25.
The newcomer legislator
won the race with 50.3 percent
and 4,548 votes, besting
opponent Monique Chandler-
Waterman, who came in second
with approximately 43
percent at 3,887 votes, with
97.8 percent of scanners reporting
by Wednesday morning,
according to unoffi cial results
from the city’s Board of
Elections.
Louis took to social media
to celebrate her victory.
“WE DID IT! Your hard
work and dedication to the
vision of #AUnifi ed45 prevailed,”
she tweeted late Tuesday
night. “I would be nowhere
without your support.
Our vision seemed scary to a
lot of people, but a unifi ed BK
is a more prosperous BK. I am
humbled to serve as your representative.
Let’s continue the
work!”
The incumbent is highly
likely to hold onto her seat in
the November general election
