St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Academy
located in the vibrant and culturally diverse neighborhood of Astoria
St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Academy in
Astoria is proud to be celebrating Catholic
Schools Week 2021 ever committed to
the formation of faith, acts of service, and
academic excellence that are the hallmarks of
our school. Our academy partners are filled
with hope for the future and dedicated to our
mission of developing a way of life rooted in
Christ and a Catholic vision that provides inspiration
and identity to all its members. We
remain steadfast and focused on the development
of our students ~ mind, body, and
soul. During this CSW, SFACA
will participate in a fundraiser
for Feeding America, engage
in Prayer, Meditation,Mindfulness, and Reflections,
and be involved in a
special writing correspondence
with the Little Sisters
of the Poor. For SFACA, it pivotal for us to be an academy
of avid learners and socially
conscious individuals with a personal
commitment to serve others through programs
that encourage faith in action.
During this current school year, our Faculty,
Staff, and Students have shown a remarkable
commitment to manage in-person and
remote learning with a resolve for Success
For All. They are developing curriculum that
supports students’ strengths to maximize
their full potential, by modeling and instilling
commitment, passion, and perseverance.
Through progressive practices and a solid
work ethic, they are personalizing instruction
and transforming the way we teach and
learn. Through the use of Google platforms
and online texts our students can easily move
from in-person to remote instruction on our
1 to 1 devices. i-Ready diagnostic assessments
enable our teachers to target instruction,
monitor student progress, and gain student
improvement.
The academy supports Carol Dweck’s idea
of a growth mindset that suggests children’s
basic intellectual abilities can be developed
through dedication and hard work. Children
to believe that they can boost
academic achievement level
with a motivational perspective
and the resilience to follow
through to a set goal with
determination and tenacity.
Students are actively engaged
in a rapidly changing
world that requires them
to be creative, innovative,
inventive, artistic, tech-savvy,
resourceful. The academy is
educating the children in academia,
STEM, and the arts to meet those demands.
Most importantly, the spiritual, emotional,
and social well-being of each child is essential
to growth and development. Therefore, it
is the mission of SFACA to model its patron
saint to form, inform, and transform our students
in the image of our Creator and to reach
their hearts, so that their lives and the lives
of all those they touch may be better in every
community.
During this CSW, the community of St. Francis
of Assisi Catholic Academy in Astoria will
pray for the health and well-being of all.
