dnata Innovation & Green Technology debut at JFK Terminal 1
First Green Turn by a Ground Handler at JFK
On 26 Nov 2020, the dnata JFK team achieved a significant milestone
in its sustainability journey by successfully executing a fully
electric green turnaround of a Viva Aerobus Airbus A320 aircraft
using only zero-emission ramp ground support equipment (GSE)
at JFK Airport’s Terminal 1. dnata is the first ground handler to
have successfully completed a green aircraft turnaround at JFK.
The aircraft was unloaded/loaded using Charlatte Electric Tugs
and Belt Loaders and was pushed back from the gate with a Mototok
electric, remote-controlled towbarless pushback tractor.
David Barker, CEO of dnata USA, said: “We are thrilled to achieve
this memorable milestone by using only green equipment to deliver
a smooth airport experience for passengers, and ensure safe
and timely departure of our customer’s flight.”
Steve Rowland, Executive Director, Terminal One Group Association
(TOGA), said: “TOGA is excited to partner with dnata USA and lead the green initiative at JFK Airport. We will work
closely with dnata to reduce our carbon footprint by replacing our existing fleet with environmentally friendly solutions
over the next years. This initiative clearly demonstrates our commitment to the environment, we are proud to be the
first at New York JFK ” Juan Carlos Zuazua, the CEO of Viva Aerobus, the carrier serviced during the first green turn
said: “We are delighted to be part of an innovation that puts environmental protection at its core. Undoubtedly, dnata
is a world pioneer committed to our planet, and our work with them if a further step as the “greenest” Mexican carrier,

Honeywell’s ThermoRebellion Deployed at Terminal 1
In partnership with Terminal One Group Association
(TOGA) and Honeywell, dnata USA has successfully deployed
the Honeywell ThermoRebellion systems at each of
the entrances of JFK Terminal 1.
David Barker, CEO of dnata USA, said: “The COVID-19
pandemic is redefining aviation processes and with the
holiday season fast approaching, we wanted to deploy the
best possible temperature-screening solution for passengers
and airport personnel. The Honeywell ThermoRebellion
solution is accurate, stable and allows individual travelers
to move through the screening process rapidly. Installation
this solution at JFK underscores our commitment to
delivering the highest levels of safety and efficiency for our
airport and airline partners, as well as their passengers.”
The Honeywell ThermoRebellion system incorporates infrared imaging technology and cutting-edge artificial intelligence
algorithms to delivery highly accurate temperature measurements. As individuals pass in front of high-resolution,
thermal imaging cameras, skin temperature is detected within seconds and displayed on an accompanying monitor,
alerting airport personnel if travelers require additional screening.
Steve Rowland, Executive Director, Terminal One Group Association (TOGA), said: “Terminal One Group Association
strongly believes in the health and safety of its passengers. We have partnered with dnata and Honeywell to deploy
the ThermoRebellion solution that offers an additional layer of safety protocols for the travelling public and Terminal
One workforce.
