EOC goes into
action to manage

Calls and emails updates were
shared among all the stakeholders
before , during and after the storm
which fortunately did not produce
the 12 inches of snow that was forecast.
Nevertheless, OPS were under
way as the snow began to fall. Deicing,
airfield plowing continued
throughout the afternoon , evening
and into Thursday the 17th
to minimize the number of flight
cancellations in the airspace. Contractors
were busy clearing the
ramps, terminal frontage, gate areas
into Thursday the 17th. Terminal
operators had cots available for
stranded travelers, the TWA hotel
was booked with managers from
many of the companies that have
important jobs during the storm,
extra buses were moving as needed
to support AirTrain icing issues.
The EOC was a beehive of virtual
activity.
Some of the ground handlers
were experiencing call-outs from
their staff and freight truckers that
