JOINS JFK FAMILY

The Port Authority and JMP consortium lease agreement
has been signed and another pillar of the JFK Airport
Redevelopment is in place with the $3.9 billion, 1.2 million
square foot new Terminal 6.
JFK Millennium Partners (JMP), a partnership with Jet-
Blue, Vantage Airport Group, American Triple I and RXR
Realty is the most ambitious terminal expansion in the entire
development to date with JetBlue’s T5 to be extended
and conjoining with the new T6 spanning three terminal
footprints at JFK.
Back in 2011 the former TWA Terminal 6 property was
razed and converted into JetBlue roperty with a hard stand
area and more recently the site of the NYC Hospitals Covid
Testing Center.
According to all involved in this agreement between
the Port and JMP, Covid hampered negotiations for over a
year as airlines, the Port and stakeholders struggled with
concerns over the future of travel. However, to date, the
estimates were overly grim and travel on JetBlue, Delta,
United, American and many other domestic carriers has
grown quickly and traffic volume pre-pandemic is seen
with more flights more travelers, more parking and more
cargo. That and the 10-year JetBlue lease extension enabled
negotiations to get back to the table and the agreement
was penned over a week ago. Ground-breaking is
anticipated in 2022; with the first New Gates going live in
2025.
The full $3.9 billion expense of building the terminal will
be privately financed by the JFK Millennium Partners consortium.
It will be built on the sites of the former Terminal
6, which was demolished in 2011, and the aging Terminal
7, which will be torn down after British Airways relocates to
Terminal 8.
