 Richard Smyth, Project Director New Terminal One 
 Will direct design and construction 
 The New Terminal  
 One at JFK this  
 week announced the  
 appointment of Richard  
 Smyth as Project  
 Director, responsible  
 for the delivery of  
 the new state-of-theart  
 international facility. 
  “I am looking  
 forward to returning  
 to JFK and joining  
 The New Terminal  
 One Team on  
 this exciting project  
 while working closely with the Port  
 Authority as part of the JFK Vision  
 Plan,” said Smyth. “It will be  
 great”, he declared. 
 Mr. Smyth joins The New Terminal  
 One Team from LaGuardia Airport  
 where he was the Project Executive  
 responsible for oversight of  
 the $8 billion “A Whole New LGA”  
 redevelopment. His role involved coordination  
 of new Terminals B and  
 C and associated infrastructure including  
 roadways, utilities, parking  
 garages and airside construction.  
 He will lead the in-house Project  
 Management Offi ce reporting to Dr.  
 Gerrard Bushell, Executive Chair of  
 The New Terminal One at JFK. cpmprised  
 of parthersnup of The Carlyle  
 Group, together with its dedicated  
 airport platform, CAG Holdings,  
 JLC Infrastructure, Ullico, and Munich  
 Airport International.

 Mr. Smyth brings signifi cant aviation  
 infrastructure development  
 experience across the United States,  
 including at all three major airports  
 in the New York metropolitan area.  
 Prior to his LaGuardia role, Mr.  
 Smyth was JetBlue Airways’ Vice  
 President  of  Corporate  Real  Estate  
 where  he was responsible for  planning, 
   fi nancing,  design  and  implementation  
 of major JetBlue development  
 projects including two aircraft  
 maintenance hangars (New York  
 JFK and Orlando MCO); a state-ofthe 
 art training center with six simulators; 
  major terminal  projects in  
 Boston, Fort Lauderdale and Long  
 Beach CA;  and, most notably, the $1  
 billion development of Terminal 5  
 and T5 International at JFK.

 Happy 100th Birthday 
 The Port Authority enters  
 its centenary, or 100th Birthday. 
  In 1921 celebrating the  
 creation of the bi-state agency  
 including New York and New  
 Jersey. To commemorate the  
 now namded Port Authority  
 of New York and New Jersey,  
 PANYNJ, a year of events,  
 programs and initiatives is  
 planned to celebrate the agency’s  
 transformational impact  
 on the growth of the region  
 over the past 100 years and its  
 mission to delivering worldclass  
 21st century infrastructure  
 in the new century. 
 The Port Authority has a  
 remarkable history of building  
 infrastructure that has  
 driven the region’s economic  
 growth and vitality – from  
 iconic bridges to world-class  
 ports  to global  aviation hubs  
 and to the World Trade Center  
 and PATH. In the next  
 100 years, the  Agency  will  
 continue  to deliver  21st  century, 
  world-class infrastructure, 
  which include efforts  
 already well underway to totally  
 transform the region’s  
 three major airports and the  
 long-awaited replacement of  
 the world’s busiest bus terminal, 
  amid other critical initiatives. 
 To commemorate this momentous  
 milestone,  the  Port  
 Authority will bring to life a  
 series of events. A preview of  
 some of them are listed below: 
 -A commemorative ceremony  
 on April 30, 2021, featuring  
 the dedication of a plaque  
 on the World Trade Center  
 campus. 
 -Additionally, on April 30,  
 2021, planning is underway  
 for a virtual celebration that  
 will enable all Port Authority  
 employees and retirees to participate  
 safely online. 
 -A  book featuring  some of  
 the  best  photography  of  the  
 Agency’s past and present is  
 being developed and will be  
 completed during the summer. 
 -A curated series of educational  
 events and programs  
 exploring the Port Authority’s  
 history will become  
 available throughout the  
 year. Here is some of what we  
 have in store: 
 -A pop-up historical exhibit  
 celebrating the 100 years  
 of the Port Authority is being  
 developed by the New York  
 Historical Society. This fi vepanel  
 exhibit will be moved  
 across Port Authority facilities  
 through the year, beginning  
 in April. 
 -Four symposia on the Port  
 Authority’s infl uence on the  
 region are being developed by  
 the  Rudin  Center  for  Transportation  
 Policy and Management  
 at NYU and the Voorhees  
 Center for Transportation at  
 Rutgers University. 
 -A video history project  
 featuring interviews with notable  
 former and longstanding  
 Port Authority employees  
 is being developed in conjunction  
 with Montclair State University.
