A Day in the Life of a subdued airport
Life will not be the same
JFK Terminal 1 very quiet.
Airport Plaza open for take-out business.
AIRPORT VOICE, APRIL 2020 27
for a while until the Covid-19
virus winds itself down.
The normally bustling,
healthy airport has a new look
with almost each facility and
taxis only serving a handful of
customers. The airport plaza
7-11 is open with some restaurants
offering take-out.
There are a number of
homeless posing a health hazard
who have found refuge in
the empty terminals. However
the Volunteers of America are
working hard to try and find
alternate safe roofs over their
heads.
On the other hand, Opal
the parking lot attendant offers
a smile and “Have a Good
Day” to passengers in the departing
cars. She is a bright
spot in A day in the Life in airport
life and of better days to
come.
No place else to go.
No Fair. Few JFK taxis wait for passengers. Parking garage attendant welcoming smile.
