Victim smashed in
head with brick during
Woodside fight: NYPD
Cops were looking for the assailant
who attacked a man with a brick
during a fight inside a Woodside
corner store.
Police said a 49-year-old man got
into a verbal dispute with an unknown
man at 11:45 p.m. on Jan. 25 inside of
Woodside Grocery, located at 39-71 61st
St. The fight turned physical when the
unknown man hit the victim on the
head with a brick, causing a laceration
and bleeding to the victim’s head,
according to authorities.
At this time, police said it is not
clear what the suspect and victim
were fighting about. Sources familiar
with the investigation indicated
that the victim may have been
intoxicated at the time of the assault,
and that could have contributed to
the altercation.
Following the assault, authorities
said the perpetrator then fled the
location on foot to parts unknown.
Officers from the 108th Precinct
and EMS responded to the scene.

Elmhurst Hospital, where he received
several stitches.
Cops described the brick-wielding
suspect as a black man in his late
teens or early 20s. He was last seen
wearing a gray hoodie with a red and
blue jacket.

Man dies after found floating in Bayside Marina
Cops were investigating the death
of a 50-year-old man who was found
floating in the icy waters of the Bayside
Marina last week.
Officers from the 111th Precinct
and FDNY units responded to a
911 call about a man in the water
at around 6:30 a.m. on March 7 at
the marina, located in the vicinity
of the Cross Island Parkway and
28th Avenue.
Upon arriving at the scene, first
responders found the man and pulled
him to shore. Citing preliminary
information, sources familiar with
the investigation said, it appears the
man had entered the water on his
own accord.
Paramedics rushed him to Flushing
Hospital, where he died a short time
later. Police withheld his identity,
pending family notification.
The man’s body was transferred
to the Medical Examiner’s office for
an autopsy to determine the cause
of death.

Middle Village
Middle Village bank robber still at large: Cops
Detectives were looking for the
bandit who swiped cash from a Middle
Village bank during a heist last week.
Police said the robbery occurred
March 6 at 3:55 p.m. inside the Cross
County Savings Bank at 80-10 Eliot
Ave., off 80th Street.
According to law enforcement
sources, the suspect — described as
a heavy-set white man in his 40s and
wearing sunglasses, a black hooded
sweatshirt and black sweatpants —
walked into the bank, approached the
counter and passed a note demanding
cash. Police sources said the crook did
not display a weapon.
Seconds later, authorities said a
teller provided the perpetrator with
more than $1,800 in cash. The bandit
then fled from the bank on foot heading
eastbound on Eliot Avenue.

was later presented to the 104th

investigation.
The NYPD released security camera
images of the bank bandit on March 7.

Ridgewood/Glendale
Cops seek three suspects in violent mugging
Cops need the public’s help in
finding three men they say are
responsible for a recent mugging on
the Ridgewood/Glendale border.
On March 7, the NYPD released
security images of the suspects who
assaulted and robbed a 20-year-old
man for his backpack on March 1 in the
area of Cooper and Wyckoff Avenues.
Police said the victim was walking
through the area at around 12:45 a.m.
when the perpetrators approached
him. They began punching the
man about the body and face, then
forcibly removed his backpack,
which contained Beats earphones,
an iPhone X, a laptop computer and
Nike Air Jordan sneakers, according
to authorities.
After taking the bag, police said
the three muggers fled the scene in an
unknown direction.
Officers from the 104th Precinct
and EMS units responded to the
incident. Paramedics brought the
victim to a local hospital for treatment
of abrasions to his face.
According to police, the suspects
and victim did not know each other.
The security camera images show
the three perpetrators inside a nearby
grocery store.
