‘Shred Your Ex’ for a free drink at The Seneca
 BY MARK HALLUM
 The Seneca is offering
 something for both the love
 birds and the scorned on
 Valentine’s Day.
 Guests are encouraged to
bring photos of their exes and
 run them through a shredder.
The bar will also hand out a
 free drink.
 Kaelin Ballinger, the
 owner of the Ridgewood
bar that opened in July, is
 taking traditions at the new
 establishment back to his
 roots in the club business
 by bringing the hit “Shred
Your Ex” night to a new
 demographic.
 Couples on date night can
expect a three course meal and
A shredder at the bar where
they can cash in on a cocktail.
 But Ballinger, who was the
 director of marketing for
 Manhattan night club Webster
 Hall, has not decided whether
or not patrons will be limited
to one drink per ex as some
 patrons may have multiple
 exes to shred.
 The Prix Fixe dinner for
two will run between 6 p.m.
   Courtesy of The Seneca
 to 10 p.m. offering handmade
 pasta, shrimp cocktail, deluxe
sundae and a bottle of wine for
 $80.
 Ballinger says special
 offerings such as this proved
to be popular in his years
in the club business and has
 solidified its place in the
 community.
 With space for private
 parties, holidays, special
 events, The Seneca — located
at 582 Seneca Ave. from its
 grand opening in December
 has aimed to make “patrons
 become regulars and regulars
 become friends,” according to
 a press release.
 “The space evolves
 throughout the day, making
it perfect to grab a breakfast
 sandwich and coffee on the
way to the office, for moms
 stopping in for an afternoon
 treat, and for friends looking
 for a late-night hangout
 playing pool with great
 music,” Ballinger said. “With
 an amazing food and beverage
 program, The Seneca offers a
 unique space that caters to
 the community throughout
 the day.”
 Food at The Seneca is
 locally sourced and organic,
 the proprietor said, and is
 prepared by Chef Corey Yee,
 who was formerly with such
 eateries as River Park, Union
 Square Events, Grand Banks
 and Hundred Acres.
 The Seneca is run between
 the Ballinger brothers,
 Kaelin and Thomas, as well
 as their brother-in-law, James
 Cruickshank.
