Suspect busted in 2018 Ridgewood burglary
Man who cut hole in apartment wall to steal roommates’ stuff taken into custody
BY MARK HALLUM
Detectives arrested
an upstate man last week
who allegedly burglarized
a Ridgewood apartment
building nearly a year ago,
breaking into one residence
and cutting a hole through
the wall in order to enter a
neighboring unit, according
to the Queens District
Attorney’s office.
Jordan Rohoman, 23, of
New Paltz, was taken into
custody Jan. 22 for the incident
in which he allegedly took
jewelry and electronics from
an apartment in the vicinity of
Seneca Avenue and Woodbine
Street on Feb. 22, 2018.
According to the criminal
complaint provided by the
Queens District Attorney’s
office, four people shared the
apartment at the time. One
of the residents told police
she left her apartment on the
morning of Feb. 22 and came
home to find a hole in the
wall leading to the adjacent

unit. Three bracelets, two
necklaces and a Sony laptop
were reported missing, court
document said.
The woman told her
roommates about the incident
and they reported missing
laptops and jewelry as well,
the complaint noted.
In viewing video
surveillance from the scene,
authorities said Rohoman
was observed pulling on the
front door of the building
before going down a set of
stairs and entering through
the basement door with
a backpack and a bicycle.
Rohoman was allegedly
able to enter through the
back door of the apartment
occupied by the building
manager, which is next door
to the victim’s apartment.
From there, Rohoman was
able to get in through the
apartment’s back door after
touring the side of the building
and knocking on the door.
The footage allegedly
shows Rohoman making
two trips into and out of the
building, while toting a duffel
bag between about 4 p.m. and
4:46 p.m. During his second
trip, he was seen carrying the
duffel, a tote bag and an overthe
shoulder bag, according to
the complaint.
Rohoman was charged by
the 104th Precinct Detective
Squad with burglary, criminal
mischief and trespassing. He
was ordered held on $50,000
following arraignment, and
must return to court on Feb.
20, court records indicated.
