Little North Pole landing in Queens BY MAGGIE HAYES [email protected] The North Pole is once again coming to Neponsit Beach. Resident Joe Mure has hosted the event, “The Little North Pole,” for nearly two decades, and this year is no exception. “Whether you’re an adult or a kid, you’re going to have a smile plastered on your face and a memory of Christmas that will last the rest of your life,” Mure said. Mure created his winter wonderland at his Neponsit Avenue home to raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the foundation for the disease that he said runs in his family. This year, he hopes to bring in over $100,000 and said that “every penny is going straight to research.” There will be live entertainment from singers Carol Douglas and Lucas Prata, a Christmas performance, emcee Johnny “Goumba Johnny” Sialiano, endless food, drinks, toys and more. Joe Causi of WCBS 101.1 will also be broadcasting live on the radio airwaves from the event. “It’s a show that is second to none,” Mure said. Santa Claus will also be making an appearance, and Mure said attendees are bound to be “very impressed by the way he gets there.” He is also auctioning off a 2014 CLA 250 Mercedes Benz with a two-year lease, for the price of a $20 raffle ticket. “You can’t make this up,” Mure said. Leading up to the event, raffle tickets are being sold at RD Bank on Cross Bay Boulevard, the Ragtime Supermarket and Newsstand, Lenny’s Clam Bar, the Howard Beach Pharmacy, Rigas Flower Shop in Ozone Park and the Belle Harbor Pharmacy. Join the fun and be transported to the North Pole on Saturday, December 7 at 144-03 Neponsit Avenue. The pre-show and music begins at 5:30 p.m. and the show will start at 6 p.m. Rain date is Sunday, December 8 at 5 p.m.
