CIMINO & crisabelt tualmo 104th Precinct Maspeth, Middle Village, Ridgewood and Glendale Bicyclist killed A 54-year-old man died on November 28 after the bicycle he was riding was hit by a commercial truck. Police say Pedro Lopez was attempting to cross Borden Avenue when he was struck by a white commercial truck, which was heading north on Maurice Avenue and attempting to make a right hand turn onto Borden. The driver fled the scene and Lopez was taken to Elmhurst General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The investigation is ongoing. 105th Precinct Queens Village, Cambria Heights, Laurelton, Rosedale, Springfield Gardens, Bellerose, Glen Oaks, New Hyde Park and Floral Park Vigil held for man struck and killed A candlelight vigil was held for 24-year-old Erik Johnson, who was struck and killed on Farmers Boulevard. The victim was crossing the roadway at Farmers Boulevard when he was hit by a Subaru Impreza traveling eastbound on Rockaway Boulevard. He was taken to Jamaica Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The driver remained on the scene and the investigation is ongoing, said cops. Johnson was on his way to work when he was struck, according to Alicia Tucker, godmother to one of his two daughters, ages three and one. One of the suspects went to the front desk, pointed a shotgun at the manager and demanded money. The second suspect held open a bag as the manager placed $560 in the bag, said police. They then fled the hotel, heading north on the Van Wyck Expressway. There were no injuries reported during the robbery. Cops describe both suspects as black males and 6’ tall. The first suspect was wearing a black ski cap, blue jeans and a blue waist length jacket. The second suspect was wearing a white waist length jacket. Man arrested for stabbing wife on Thanksgiving A man allegedly stabbed his wife after the two got into a Thanksgiving Day dispute at their South Richmond Hill home, according to police and published reports. The incident occurred around 4 p.m. at the couple’s Lefferts Boulevard residence, cops said. The victim, whose name was not immediately released, was taken to Jamaica Hospital with multiple stab wounds, where she is listed in stable condition, according to police. Xavier Cabarcas, 31, was taken into custody at the scene and charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon, cops said. According to the New York Post, Cabarcas and the victim are married with three children, but their kids did not witness the stabbing. 108th Precinct LIC, Sunnyside and Woodside Seek burglary suspect The New York City Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance identifying the individual wanted for a burglary which took place on October 7 inside of a home at 41-32 44th Street. The suspect entered through a balcony door and took jewelry and electronics. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS. 110th Precinct Corona and Elmhurst Man found dead in Corona home A 27-year-old unidentified man was found dead inside a Corona home early Sunday morning, December 1, police said. Cops found him in a third floor bedroom at 108-62 42nd Avenue shortly before 2 a.m. after responding to a call of a “foul odor” inside the home. There are no arrests at the time and the investigation is ongoing. Live-in boyfriend arrested in murder of Elmhurst woman The boyfriend of a woman found shot to death in her Elmhurst apartment has been arrested for her murder. Rolando Perez, 33, who lives with the victim, has been with charged with seconddegree murder and criminal use of a firearm, said police. Responding to a 9-1-1 call, cops found 29-year-old Carolina Cobena around 1:50 a.m. inside her 52nd Avenue apartment with a gunshot wound to the head, said police. She was taken to Elmhurst Hospital where she was pronounced dead. According to police, Cobena’s five-year-old son was in the apartment when the murder occurred. They felt it was the least they could do for the officers who were not able to go home for dinner, and continued the annual tradition.
