Authorities said the incident took place at 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 22 inside the Rong Hua Chinese food restaurant located at 131-19 Jamaica Ave. Police said the perpetrator, described as a black male in his mid-20s standing between 5 foot 9 inches and 5 foot 11 inches tall and weighing 140 pounds, got into a verbal argument with the 39-year-old male worker over the price charged for his food. During the argument, the unhappy customer took out a firearm, scaring the worker. The gunman left the restaurant moments later without further incident. The worker was not injured, and no property was taken. Authorities said the suspect was last seen wearing a gold grill on his top teeth, a black San Francisco Giants baseball cap, a black hooded sweatshirt and black jeans. Anyone with information regarding the suspect’s whereabouts is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS. 105th Precinct Queens Village, Laurelton, Rosedale, Springfield Gardens, Bellerose Two sought after teenagers shot on Halloween night in Rosedale A gunman wreaked havoc on Halloween night in Rosedale, killing one teenager and leaving another in critical condition, according to police. Officers responded to the call of two males shot on 144th Avenue between Brookville Boulevard and 241st Street at approximately 8:53 p.m. Upon arrival, police found one victim — identified as 19-year-old Peyton Manwaring — with a gunshot wound to the torso, and the second victim, an 18-year-old male, with gunshot wounds to leg and torso. EMS also responded and transported both males to Jamaica Hospital, where Manwaring was pronounced dead and the second victim was listed in critical condition. On Nov. 2, police released surveillance photos of two men wanted as person of interest in the incident. According to authorities, these two suspects — described as wearing black hooded sweatshirts — were seen following the victim immediately prior to the shooting. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS. RIDGEWOOD DRUG STORE SNARED IN MAJOR OXYCODONE DISTRIBUTION SCHEME Chopin Chemists, located on Fresh Pond Road at Palmetto Street, was shuttered on Oct. 29 after its owners — Lilian Jakacki (aka Wieckowski), 49, and Marcin Jakacki, 35 — were named in an indictment charging them with dealing more than 500,000 oxycodone pills over a five-year period out of both the Ridgewood shop and another drug store they owned in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. According to U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York Preet Bharara, the Jakackis “were part of one of the largest opioid painkiller diversion schemes ever uncovered in New York,” distributing the highly addictive medication with “obviously fake prescriptions or no prescription at all, helping fuel the growing crisis of prescription pill abuse.” The Drug Enforcement Administration found, in an audit of the defendants’ Brooklyn store, that it dispensed 400,000 oxycodone pills without prescriptions as of 2013, and that the Chopin pharmacies also accepted more than 1,300 fraudulent prescriptions at both the Brooklyn and Ridgewood stores, releasing an excess of 160,000 pills. In some instances, prosecutors noted, the fraudulent prescriptions were made out to brand names such as “Coach” or “Chanel.” Between September and October of this year, authorities said, an undercover DEA agent unlawfully purchased hundreds of oxycodone pills from the Ridgewood location in transactions that Marcin Jakacki allegedly coordinated. The illegal sales allowed the Jakackis to live the good life, Bharara noted, as they used the illegal proceeds to purchase a $2 million home in Greenwich, Connecticut. A third individual — Robert Cybulski, 30 — was charged with illegally purchasing tens of thousands of pills from the Brooklyn location, using multiple fraudulent prescriptions to obtain the medication. Lilian Jakacki was additionally charged in a separate indictment for allegedly swindling more than $750,000 in fraudulent Medicare prescription drug claims filed out of the Brooklyn location between 2010 and 2014. Each suspect faces up to 20 years behind bars if convicted. REGO PARK MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO MANSLAUGHTER IN DEATH OF TWO ON QUEENS BOULEVARD A 24-year-old Rego Park driver has pleaded guilty for killing two pedestrians on their way to work in 2013 after he lost control of his car which he was driving at more than 100 mph, prosecutors said. Leonid Redko pleaded guilty last week to second-degree manslaughter and faces a term of three to nine years in prison if sentenced later this year on Dec. 9 in Queens Supreme Court. According to Queens District Attorney Richard Brown, on the morning of Nov. 11, 2013, Redko was driving his 2014 yellow Chevrolet Camaro at more than 100 mph westbound along the Queens Boulevard service road near Broadway in Elmhurst. He then lost control and hit a phone kiosk and a lamppost before the sports car rotated and jumped the curb, fatally hitting two pedestrians – Man Chit Cheng, 59, and Wang Mu Lin, 41 – who were on their way to work.
