The Boro-Linc initiative commenced last year with several Lincoln Center programs at the Casita Maria Center for Arts & Education in the Bronx, and continues this fall with a series in Queens with partner organization Jamaica Center for Arts & Learning. The program will continue in the spring in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and the Bronx; details to be announced at a later date. In addition to bringing its resident organizations artists, programs, workshops, and exhibits from the Manhattan campus into neighborhoods, Lincoln Center also works with the local community center to showcase local artists from around the community and borough. Through Boro-Linc, Lincoln Center aims to make the arts more accessible and increase arts awareness and engagement for children and their families. “Access to the arts is a right, not a privilege,” said Jed Bernstein, President of Lincoln Center. “We are proud to join with our Lincoln Center constituent partners in breaking down geographic barriers to experience performing arts at its best.” “We are truly exhilarated about this partnership with Lincoln Center which offers not only quality artistic programs in various forms, but opportunities for interactive hands-on and community participation,” said Cathy Hung, Executive Director of the Jamaica Center for Arts & Learning. “Program staff from Lincoln Center worked with JCAL tirelessly to design a series that perfectly ties to JCAL’s mission and offerings to our regular education community and residents here. It’s a win-win situation all around.” A full schedule of events can be found here: LincolnCenter.org/BoroLinc The schedule for Boro-Linc events this fall are as follows: Saturday, November 7, 2015 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm Community Artist Workshop 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm Lincoln Center Education: Shine & The Moonbeams Recommended for ages 0-7 Saturday, November 14, 2015 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm Community Artist Workshop 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm New York Philharmonic: Very Young People’s concert, Philharmonic Playground: Treble and Bass Recommended for ages 3-6 with families Saturday, November 21, 2015 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm Community Artist Workshop 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm Chamber Music Society: Chamber Music Beginnings – Musical Moods Recommended for ages 8-10 Saturday, December 5, 2015 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm Metropolitan Opera Guild: Opera in your Neighborhood!
