12 THE COURIER SUN • OCTOBER 2, 2014 FOR BREAKING NEWS VISIT www.couriersun.com 103RD PRECINCT Jamaica, Hollis and Lakewood Police searching for suspect in shooting, robbery off Van Wyck Expressway A man shot another driver off of the Van Wyck Expressway in Jamaica before robbing the victim’s girlfriend, police said. On Sept. 26 at about 7:30 p.m. cops received a call about a man shot on the corner of the Van Wyck Expressway service road and 94th Avenue. The victim later told police that he and his girlfriend were at a sneaker store when they saw two men watching them. As the couple left the store in a BMW, a white Jeep followed them, according to cops. During the pursuit, the Jeep forced the BMW to crash into a fence and afterward the suspect exited the Jeep, went to the driver’s door and shot the victim in the upper thigh, police said. Then the suspect went to the passenger side, struck the victim’s girlfriend on the head with the gun and stole three necklaces from her. The suspect then jumped back into the Jeep and fl ed the scene. However, the Jeep was later recovered on 134th Street and 97th Avenue, police said. The victim was taken to Jamaica Hospital in stable condition. The investigation is ongoing. 104TH PRECINCT Ridgewood, Glendale, Middle Village and Maspeth Man wanted in Ridgewood assault of 82-year-old woman Police have released surveillance video of a man suspected of punching an elderly woman as she was walking in Ridgewood. On Sept. 25 at about 6:35 a.m. the 82-year-old victim was walking near the intersection of Myrtle Avenue and Seneca Street when the suspect came up behind her and struck her to the side of her face with a closed fi st, causing bruising and swelling, according to cops. The suspect is described as a Hispanic or black man, between 25 to 30 years old and 5 feet 7 inches tall. He was wearing blue jeans and a black T-shirt with a design in white. Suspect arrested in Ridgewood stabbing, carjacking of livery cab driver Police have arrested a man suspected of stabbing a 30-year-old livery cab driver and then stealing his car in Ridgewood. Kenneth Suden, 41, of Ridgewood, has been charged with attempted murder, robbery, assault, and criminal possession of a weapon in connection with the brutal Sept. 25 attack, according to the Queens district attorney’s offi ce. The victim, Fernando Crespin-Santos, was dispatched to the Cypress Hills section of Brooklyn, where, at about 1:10 a.m. that day, he picked up Suden and was asked to drive him to Ridgewood, according to offi cials. Once in the neighborhood, and several blocks from Suden’s home, Suden allegedly held a knife to Crespin- Santos’ throat and demanded money, prosecutors said. He is then accused of stabbing Crespin-Santos repeatedly in the arms, legs and chest before taking off in his vehicle. Crespin-Santos was able to fl ee from the car before Suden drove off and was found near 70th Avenue and 60th Street, offi cials said. He was taken to Elmhurst Hospital, suffering from a collapsed lung, a severed stomach and a severed liver, the district attorney said. The car was discovered illegally parked a short time later in Ridgewood not far from where Crespin-Santos was found, reports said. The day of the incident, police released a photo of Suden, looking to question him in the stabbing and carjacking. He was arrested after he walked into a local hospital on Sept. 29 and hospital police recognized him and alerted authorities, police said. Suden has also been charged with committing a knifepoint robbery at a Ridgewood grocery store on Putnam Avenue the night before the stabbing of the livery cab driver, according to the district attorney. As of press time, Suden was currently awaiting arraignment in Queens Criminal Court on a criminal complaint in each case. If convicted in both, he faces up to 50 years in prison. 106TH PRECINCT South central Queens Second suspect sought in Ozone Park knife robbery Police are looking for one of two suspects wanted for robbing and slashing a victim with a knife in Ozone Park. On Sept. 23, at about 1 p.m., a 19-year-old man was walking at the intersection of 114th Street and 103rd Avenue when he was approached by two other men who began punching him in the face and body, according to cops. The suspects demanded the victim to hand over what he had and then one of them used a knife to slash the victim on the wrist. They took a ring from the victim and then fl ed the scene. Police describe the fi rst suspect as a 17- to 19-year-old black man with a slim build. The second suspect, 19-year-old Joshua Cerna-Gonzalez, was arrested on Sept. 25 and charged with robbery, cops said. The NYPD has released a surveillance photo of the fi rst suspect. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS (8477). 112TH PRECINCT Forest Hills and Rego Park Man exposed himself to 5-year-old at Rego Park mall: cops Police are looking for a man who they say exposed himself to a young girl inside of Rego Park Center. The suspect approached the 5-year-old victim inside of the Sears at the mall, located at 96-05 Queens Blvd., around 7 p.m. on Sept. 22, cops said. He then exposed himself to the child and fl ed.
