The 2014-2109 comprehensive plan, the work of a three year process of reflection, consultation and research, is the result of the many conversations Father Jenkins had with faculty, staff, students, parents and alumni since his appointment in 2011. These laid the groundwork for a Strategic Planning Survey that was conducted last Spring, taking into account the challenges the school faced and capitalizing on its strengths. Students were surveyed separately on issues that mattered most to them: academic programs, student life, clubs, organizations and sports. And, most importantly, the plan had to incorporate the school’s mission and maintain its Christian identity. The concept to establish a Catholic high school for boys in New York was conceived on the campus of Notre Dame University in the early 1940’s by the Brothers of the Congregation of Holy Cross. Since its doors opened in 1955, the school has remained true to its mission of embracing students who reflect social and economic diversity, nurturing and promoting their spiritual, intellectual, creative, social and psychological growth and development. In spearheading this strategic plan and its initiatives, Father Walter sought to integrate the Congregation’s centuries-old philosophy of Catholic education with a curriculum designed to stimulate interest, intellectual curiosity and creativity in the boys of today. “A worthy and careful course is one that includes a healthy respect and renewal of tradition, and one that reads the signs of the times in order to embrace the future.” “This is an ambitious undertaking,” Father Jenkins conceded, “but one which we believe is achievable through the dedication and spirit of the Holy Cross community. We are deeply grateful to God, our Brothers, our faculty, staff and alumni for all that we’ve been given and we move forward in hope.” Holy Cross HigH sCHool ADVERTORIAL “Empowering E hedral Cath 350 East 56th S Com Young Wome l High Street ~ New Y me and exp TA # ACHS 202 en Through E Education ce 1905” ol Schoo York, NY 100 plore all tha Sinc 022 ~ 212-688- at Cathedra OPEN Sunday, -1545 al has to off N HOU October 19 1 12 – 3 PM will be given at 2 Last tour w USE 9, 2014 2:30 PM ffer you!
