Numerous celebrities including tennis legend Billie Jean King, Alec Baldwin, Anna Wintour and Mike Tyson were among those on hand for the celebration, which included a concert featuring Phil Collins. Former Mayor David Dinkins was also in the stands, and current Mayor Bill de Blasio — despite being greeted with a chorus of boos — helped officially kick off the festivities for the fourth and final major tennis tournament of 2016. After the opening ceremony, the crowd at Arthur Ashe got to see Novak Djokovic begin his defense of his men’s title with a fourset opening round victory. Other winners on Day 1 on the Arthur Ashe court included Rafael Nadal, Madison Keys, Roberta Vinci and Angelique Kerber.
