South Nassau is Worth the Trip:
Comprehensive Maternity Care
in All-Private Birthing Suites
Lauren D. and her husband, Ryan,
of Queens, NY, could have delivered
their first child at any hospital in
New York City.
But a relative recommended they
Communities Hospital in Nassau County
to check out the hospital’s all-private
maternity suites. Lauren and Ryan made
the trip to Oceanside on the south shore
of Long Island, and were sold.
On February 18, 2018, Lauren
and Ryan, joined by family and
friends, celebrated the birth of their
son William James. “From the
maternity nurses to the obstetricians
and pediatricians, the attention to
detail was incredible,” said Lauren.
“The standard of care we received
combined with the luxurious, private
patient and labor and delivery rooms,
life’s greatest moment.”
Claudia Ravins, MD, a specialist
in minimally-invasive gynecologic
surgery, is one of those metro area
physicians who couldn’t agree more
with Lauren.
“I recommend to patients who reside in
Queens or Brooklyn that they travel just
Communities Hospital to receive the
compassionate, advanced maternity
services that I know will meet their
needs and expectations,” she says. “Not
accommodations, there is no additional
fee. Patients have described the rooms
and surroundings as like a hotel.”
“New moms and families can feel
comfortable knowing that advanced
maternity care like a neonatal
intensive care unit (NICU) is
available for higher-risk pregnancies,
and specialists in maternal-fetal
medicine and genetic counseling
are also conveniently located within
steps of the hospital. Parking is free,
also one less thing for mom to worry
about,” Ravins added.
nurses, obstetricians and highrisk
pregnancy specialists deliver
approximately 2,000 babies each
year, including nearly 30 sets of
twins. In addition to advanced
maternal-fetal medical technologies,
the hospital’s Center for New
Beginnings features 26 private
family/newborn rooms and spacious
labor and delivery rooms.
Premature deliveries and newborns
with developmental complications
or conditions receive the specialized
care they need in a six-bed neonatal
equipped with dedicated medical
technologies for premature newborns
and newborns with special needs. For
mothers needing a Caesarean delivery,
the Center has a dedicated state-ofthe
art surgical suite to ensure that
they experience a model of familycentered
care.
