Konigsberg has been a member of Community Board 7 since 1999. With the help of Irene Miller of CB 11, Konigsberg was able to have 13 of the 14 community boards in Queens approve resolutions in smoke-free multiple housing. C urent Role Konigsberg is very passionate about making Queens a better place by being involved in many Queens community organizations. He is a Smoke-free Community Advocate as well as a member of Citizens Against Graffiti Everywhere. He is also affiliated with many more different organizations that help to make Queens a better place. Personal Konigsberg has lived in Queens his entire life. He currently resides in Bay Terrace with his wife Jennifer. Konigsberg is also a fan of the New York Jets and the New York Yankees. He also follows March Madness every year. Inspirations Konigsberg’s motivation to make Queens a healthier place is because he knows the struggles of living with illness. Konigsberg contracted polio at the age of 2 and currently lives with severe restrictive lung disease. Konigsberg wants to make Queens healthier not only for himself, but for everyone who lives in unhealthy conditions. Challenges The biggest challenge that Konigsberg faces is people who don’t agree with the work that he does. Konigsberg tries to take the time to help educate these people so they know the effects of smoking, secondhand smoking and the importance of having clean air in the community. Favorite Memories Konigsberg favorite memory is helping the Smoke Free Air Act get passed by New York City. This is one way that Konigsberg was able to improve quality of life in New York City. Konigsberg will continue to do work like this to help make the community more livable.
