Police responded to the shooting at 89-32 163rd Street around 5:11 a.m. on Saturday, August 3. Upon arrival, officers found one Hispanic man with a gunshot wound to his chest and another Hispanic man with a gunshot wound to his ankle. EMS rushed both victims to Jamaica Hospital where the first man was pronounced dead; the second victim is in stable condition, authorities said. Cops have not arrested anyone in connection with the shooting yet and the investigation is ongoing. Assistant Chief James Secreto finished his threeand a-half year post as commander of Patrol Borough Queens South on Wednesday, July 31. He now heads the Manhattan North command. “I really love Queens,” Secreto said. “I had a good team. It’s bittersweet.” Secreto, a former resident of Queens Village, took command of Patrol Borough Queens South in January 2010. He has previously headed the Queens narcotics unit and the NYPD’s School Safety Division. Manhattan North is Secreto’s 18th command in his 34-year career in the police department, he said. He has come full circle, returning to the department he started in as a rookie. “I’m coming back to where I started,” he said. “Manhattan is the mecca of the world. The NYPD released video surveillance of a light colored, two-door Volkswagen GTI sedan with damage to the passenger side bumper, an unlit headlight, a caved in windshield and partial roof damage. The car was traveling east on Lansing Avenue to south on Conduit Avenue and was last seen heading east on Sunrise Highway. Cops found Brooklyn resident Jose Padilla-Argueta bleeding heavily from multiple injuries on August 1 at 230th Place and Lansing Avenue, where EMS pronounced him dead. Authorities believe Padilla-Argueta was struck by a vehicle after a medical examiner studied his body. Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers hotline at 800-577-TIPS. 106TH PRECINCT Howard Beach, Ozone Park and South Ozone Park Suspect arrested for trying to rape woman at Howard Beach subway station A Brooklyn man has been arrested for the attempted rape of a woman at the Howard Beach-JFK Airport subway station after he allegedly stalked the victim during her commute. The 42-year-old victim first encountered the suspect, Melvin Adams, 37, when she boarded the subway at the Beach 90th Street stop around 2 a.m. Thursday August 1, said cops. He sat next to the woman and tried to chat with her, then followed her when she exited the train at the Broad Channel station. Police said he continued to pursue the victim as she waited for the northbound A train. He allegedly tried to put his arm around her, ignoring the victim when she told him to stop. Following her onto the A train, he asked her for money, but the victim told the suspect she didn’t have any. When she got off at the Howard Beach-JFK Airport stop, the suspect followed the victim onto the platform, grabbed her, threw her against the wall, then attacked her. Adams has been charged with attempted rape, robbery, a criminal sex act, sex abuse, forcible touching and harassment, according to police. 113TH PRECINCT St. Albans, Hollis, Springfield Gardens, South Ozone Park, South Jamaica, Addisleigh Park and Locust Manor Bank robber sought Police are looking for a man wanted in connection to a bank robbery that took place on July 27. Cops say the suspect hit the Capital One Bank at 189-02 Linden Boulevard.
