Queens Centers for Progress honors excellence

On Tuesday July 10, Queens Centers
for Progress (QCP) presented their fi rst
annual “Getting It Done” award to
QCP staff . QCP also presented its fi rst
“Frank & Th eresa Armano Award of
Excellence” award.
QCP has been providing person-centered
services and support to children
and adults who have developmental
disabilities since 1950. Th eir programs
help to promote independence, community
involvement, and quality of life
for their patients.
QCP “has been faced with so many
challenges so to do something like
this for the staff is really wonderful,”
said Terri Ross, executive director of
QCP.
Natalie Rogers fi rst founded QCP
in 1950. Th e Natalie Rogers “Getting
It Done” award was awarded to staff
members whose job performance
demonstrates all of the qualities Ms.
Rogers has. Th is award was created to
honor all of the work she has done.
Th e winners of this award are:
Yisset Lozano, Janelle Ali, Mari
Aucapina, Josefi na Castillo, Juliana
Christopher, Maria Dataram, Mary
Hollenbeck, John Lester, Tara DeLaine,
and Anthony Samuda all received the
$100 award.
Jennie Santa Maria, Waslene Baptise,
Velma Deloatch, and Narges Lateef
were all presented with the $250 award.
Andrea Villatora was presented with
the $500 award.
QCP also granted the “Frank and
Th eresa Armano Award of Excellence”
to Maggie Cerillo. Cerillo was nominated
for this award because “she is
truly truly a special person,” said Ross.
Maggie Cerillo received a certifi cate
and $500 for her work that refl ects the
QCP mission.Vincenzo Armano who
funded the scholarship helped to present
Cerillo with this award.
Th e other nominees received a certifi
cate for being nominated as well as
a gift card.
Another award ceremony will take
place in October at the Queens Center
for Progress, located at 81-15 164th
Street, Jamaica.
