the garden a little bit
more! The Queens Botanical
Garden (QBG) is extending
their hours so everyone can
enjoy twilight at the garden
every Thursday evening. QBG
members get free admission,
while everyone else pay regular
admission. $6 for adults,
$4 for students with IDs, $2
for children (ages 4 to 12).
From 6 to 8 p.m., don’t miss
this special event at the QBG,
43-50 Main St., Queens.

2 Learn how to knit and
crochet! From 1 to 3
p.m., experience crafters will
teach their skills to children
and other beginners so that
you can make your own pieces
of art on the palm of your
hand! Participants should
bring their own supplies.
This workshop is held at the
Queens Library in Glen Oaks,
256-04 Union Turnpike.
Registration is not required.
FRIDAY, JULY 27
4 Come and see
the stars near the
waterfront! The Amateur
Astronomers Association of
New York are providing telescopes
and instructions on
how to identify objects in
the sky. This free event takes
place at Hunters Point South
Park, Center Boulevard, Long
Island City, from 8 to 10 p.m.
5 Does your child
want to learn how
to play sports? Then put
them in the Summer Sports
Explore the cultural importance of henna! From 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 26, participants will see the henna
plant and learn to prepare henna paste in order to create unique works of art on their hands. Practice this unique
art form and try it on your hand. You must be 21 years to attend. This class is held at the Queens Botanical Garden,
43-50 Main St. Admission is free for QBG members. $6 for adults, $4 for students with IDs, $2 for children (ages 4

11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the
Summer Sports Experience
is an instructional youth program
that trains children in
sports like baseball, basketball,
football, futsal, lacrosse,
soccer, track, volleyball, ultimate
frisbee and more with
basic and advance techniques!
This program is recommended
for children
ages 8-14. This free program
is located at the Playground
for All Children in Flushing
Meadows Corona Park,
Grand Central Parkway,
Whitestone Expressway,
111th Street and College

Annual Grand Mid-
Summer Pow Wow! From 6
to 10 p.m., NYC’s oldest and
largest pow wow will feature
three days of Native American
dancing competitions for the
public to see! More than 40
Indian nations will be represent
in the apple orchard on
the farm grounds with a large
selection of Native American
art, crafts, jewelry and food
for sale. This is an all-weekend
event! DAY PASS is $10
for adults & $5 for kids (ages
12 and under). WEEKEND
PASS is $16 adults & $7 kids
(ages 12 & under). Free for
farm members. Come to this
event at the Queens County
Farm Museum in Queens

8 Have your yoga session
by the beach!
From 8:15 to 9:15 a.m., yoga
instructor Helen Kilgallen,
from Ocean Bliss Yoga, will
teach a yoga class near the
water of Rockaway Beach!
Please bring either a mat,
towel or blanket. This class
is held at Beach 108th Street
in Rockaway Beach and
Boardwalk. This class is free

head to the Alley Pond
Park Adventure Course!
From 10 a.m. to noon, Alley
Pond Park is offering a free
outdoor adventure that
puts teamwork to the test.
Although this event is free,
minors must accompanied by
an adult and must have valid
photo identification. Please
enter your name in the urban
park rangers events registration
page as space is limited.
This course is set in Alley
Pond Park Adventure Center
in Alley Pond Park, 228-06
