Firelight Jewelry specializes in handmade jewelry and accessories such as earrings, pendants, photo tiles and more. Every part of the merchandise sold at Firelight is made by Quinn herself except the wood used in her photo tiles, which is instead cut by her husband. Stranigar, who has been dabbling with vintage materials since 2003, moved from California to Astoria in 2009 and opened her store in September of 2012. With clothing, accessories, and jewelry ranging from the Victorian Era through the 1980s, Pin Up Queens caters to everyone regardless of age, size, or taste. It also takes requests for vintage-inspired custom pieces and alterations. Maney and Mella, who have both been collecting antiques separately for the past three years, decided to put their talents together last year and will be opening their own store sometime in August. Their expansive collection of antiques includes ornate vases, decorations, ornaments, tables, pottery and much more. Also, purchasing five or more items may entitle shoppers to Antique Antics’ substantial trade discount. They cater to weddings, birthday parties, communions and other events, and will be attending the LIC Flea to share their homemade treats with New Yorkers. Their signature product is a candied jalapeno covered in dark chocolate with a hint of sea salt. They also offer milk chocolate-covered animal crackers. Although the company is only a few months old, they are looking to move to wholesale soon. “We’re very excited about the opportunity to be part of the LIC Flea,” said Sara Meyer. “It’s a really big deal and we’re glad we can be a part of it.” DARKSIDE CUSTOMS / www.darksidecustoms.weebly.com 347-806-2823 Darkside Customs, owned by designer and craftsman Bobby Kane and his wife, Xenia, specializes in handmade steampunk art and jewelry and will be bringing some of their merchandise to the LIC Flea this year. Kane started Darkside Customs in 2010 as a hobby. After three successful years, he is hoping to turn it into his main source of income. Darkside’s customers particularly enjoy their necklaces, earrings and steampunk cuffs featuring pre-exploration maps of North America. Kane is also more than willing to accept design ideas. DEEPCUTS / www.deepcuts.storenvy.com 646-422-9720 Last August, Colin Drucker founded DeepCuts, a line of custom-made tote bags. Drucker is a one-man team, designing, producing and marketing his products with his own designs and artwork. He is looking forward to sharing his merchandise at the LIC Flea this year. Drucker also welcomes design suggestions and is particularly proud of his Golden Girls-themed bags, which have been selling well and gaining lots of interest from his customers. DeepCuts will be at the LIC Flea every Saturday and Sunday. With something for the entire family – from food to clothes to jewelry, even antiques and accessories – be sure to visit every Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The market is within walking distance from the No. 7 train and East River Ferry LIC/ Hunters Point stop. Riders can transfer from the N and Q lines at Queens Plaza to connect to the No. 7 train.
