Cops seek several
suspects in connection
with Corona shootout
Police are searching for several people
who are believed to be connected with
an early morning gun fi ght in Corona
last month.
On Monday, April 19, around 12:30
a.m., at least two people began to
exchange gunfi re in front of 46-04 108th
St., according to the NYPD.
One of the bullets fi red hit a parked and
unoccupied car, damaging the vehicle,
cops said. Another bullet went through
the bedroom window of an apartment
located at 104-67 47th Ave., according to
the authorities.
Quickly aft er the shootout, everyone
involved fl ed the scene, police said. No
one was injured as a result of the incident.
Th ere have been no arrests made and
the investigation is ongoing.

Man charged in fatal
Jamaica car crash
Th e NYPD has charged a man who
allegedly caused a car crash in Jamaica
that left a 21-year-old driver dead on
Monday, May 3.
Police responded to a 911 call of a
motor vehicle collision at the corner of
Linden Boulevard and 157th Street a few
minutes aft er 11 p.m. Once they arrived,
they found 21-year-old Jamaica resident
Carlos Bermeo-Guzman with a head
trauma in the driver’s seat of a BMW
235I, authorities said.
EMS arrived at the scene and transported
Bermeo-Guzman to Jamaica
Hospital Medical Center, where he was
pronounced dead on Tuesday, May 4,
police said.
According to the investigation, authorities
said 45-year-old Pierre Laferiere, of
209th Street, was speeding in a Toyota
Highlander while heading westbound
on Linden Boulevard and subsequently
hit the rear of the BMW 235I driven by
Bermeo-Guzman at the intersection of
157th Street.
Aft er the Toyota Highlander struck
the BMW, the BMW veered to the right
and mounted on the northwest sidewalk
on Linden Boulevard, where it
hit a parked and unoccupied Chevrolet
Silverado pickup truck, according to
police.
Authorities took Laferiere, who was
not injured in the crash, into custody
that night. Laferiere was then charged
with operating a car with a suspended
driver’s license.
Th e investigation is ongoing.

Duo uses woman’s personal info to
steal $10,000 from bank account
in Kew Gardens Hills: NYPD
Police are looking for a duo who used a woman’s
personal information to withdraw a heft y sum from
her bank account in Kew Gardens Hills last year.
On Aug. 31, 2020, around 4 p.m., a man and
woman walked into a TD Bank located at 7602
Main St., according to the NYPD.
Using a 35-year-old woman’s personal information,
the duo withdrew $10,000 in cash from her
bank account, police said.
Both the victim and the police are unaware as
to how the pair gained access to the 35-year-old’s
information.
Police obtained photos of the suspects from inside
the bank at the time of the incident.
No arrests have been made and the investigation
is ongoing.
