Nickel McLean allegedly told police that he had just returned home from playing soccer the afternoon of March 19 when he got into the dispute with his stepfather, 50-year-old David Hightower. During the confrontation, he said Hightower threatened and struck him, according to the district attorney’s offi ce. Cops found Hightower inside his home on 114th Street near Myrtle Avenue at about 2:30 p.m., authorities said. He had been stabbed several times in the chest, abdomen and arm. Hightower was transported to Jamaica Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. McLean was taken into custody at the scene and charged with second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon, offi cials said. He was held on $500,000 bail following his arraignment on the morning of April 20. 103rd Precinct Jamaica, Hollis Park Gardens, Hollis and Lakewood MAN FOUND STABBED TO DEATH ON HOLLIS STREET CORNER Police are investigating the murder of a 39-year-old man who was found stabbed on a Hollis street corner. Offi cers discovered Jamaica resident Otto Emilio Ajpacaja Cua at 184th Street and Jamaica Avenue just before 4:30 a.m. on April 19 after he had been stabbed, authorities said. He had been stabbed in the chest and thigh. EMS rushed Ajpacaja-Cua to Jamaica Hospital, but he did not survive. According to police, an argument led to the stabbing. As of press time, there were no arrests and the investigation was ongoing. 105th Precinct Queens Village, Cambria Heights, Laurelton, Rosedale, Springfi eld Gardens, Bellerose, Glen Oaks, New Hyde Park and Floral Park ARREST IN CAMBRIA HEIGHTS STABBING DEATH Police have arrested a suspect in the murder of a 40-year-old homeless man who was found fatally stabbed in Cambria Heights, authorities announced on April 17. Andre Perrin, 48, has been charged with seconddegree murder and criminal possession of a weapon in the death of Dshawn Rogers, cops said. Offi cers discovered Rogers on 230th Street outside a home near 116th Avenue at about 4:20 p.m. on April 16, authorities said. He was unconscious and had been stabbed in the torso. Rogers was taken to Jamaica Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Cops believe a dispute between Rogers and Perrin, who lives a couple of blocks from the crime scene, led to the stabbing. The relationship between the two was not immediately clear. 106th Precinct South central Queens ELDERLY BICYCLIST STRUCK IN SOUTH OZONE PARK HIT-AND-RUN Police are looking for the driver who hit an 88-yearold bicyclist in South Ozone Park. The victim was riding his bike on 131st Street near Rockaway Boulevard at about 1 p.m. on April 16 when a blue sedan struck him, authorities said. The vehicle then fl ed. The bicyclist was taken to Jamaica Hospital in critical condition. Police have released video footage of a March stickup at a Springfi eld Gardens Subway restaurant showing an employee struggling with the armed robber who, along with a partner, is wanted for two other heists. The pair are accused of fi rst robbing a Subway restaurant at 127-02 Merrick Blvd. in Jamaica on Jan. 1 at about 9:20 p.m., authorities said. After entering the eatery, the fi rst suspect put a gun to one victim’s head and demanded money while the second suspect held another victim to the fl oor. The suspects, who were wearing masks and dark clothing, then took about $500 before fl eeing on foot southbound on 127th Avenue. On Jan. 3, at about 10 p.m., they targeted a Fresh Meadows gas station at 181-05 Horace Harding Expy., according to police. The two suspects entered the business wearing masks, gloves and dark clothing, and displayed a silver fi rearm before taking around $500. In the latest incident, on March 17, at about 10 p.m., an unknown number of suspects who were wearing masks, gloves and black hooded jackets came into a Springfi eld Gardens Subway restaurant, located at 219-25 North Conduit Ave., displayed a dark gray handgun and demanded that safe be opened, police said. As video footage released by the NYPD shows, one of the suspects briefl y struggled with an employee over his gun. The suspects then fl ed on foot eastbound on North Conduit Avenue. The suspects are described as two black men, between 5 feet 9 inches to 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighing between 190 to 230 pounds.
